Megyn Kelly slams Hutchinson: ‘First-year law student’ could have driven a truck through holes in testimony

Following Cassidy Hutchinson’s less-than-believable testimony in front of the Jan. 6 inquisition, Megyn Kelly and a slew of conservatives took issue with her assertions, while two Secret Service agents, the driver, and others contested her allegations.

Hutchinson accused Trump via second-hand testimony, which many consider hearsay, of attempting to grab the wheel of the limo/SUV he was in and attacking a Secret Service agent the day of the Jan. 6 protest. Such testimony is typically not allowed in a court of law and no one was allowed to cross-examine Hutchinson following her two-hour testimony. The committee never even reached out to the agents or the driver to confirm Hutchinson’s version of events that occurred that day, according to Politico.

Journalist, commentator, and attorney Megyn Kelly took issue with the whole spectacle.

“My take on the Jan 6 ‘star witness’ testimony yesterday ⬇️ (Short version: it was riddled with problems which the media will ignore.)” Kelly tweeted. She pointed out during the show that a “first-year law student” could have driven a truck through the holes in Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony.

During her podcast, Kelly dissected the many flaws in Hutchinson’s testimony.

She ended her show by saying, “There’s no need to pretend that this is some earth-shattering game-changer,” she commented concerning Hutchinson’s revelations.

“It’s additional flavor on an already cooked meal. The attempt to claim otherwise comes from people who already loathed Trump. I actually think I’m in a unique spot on this front. I feel no need to defend Trump or his character as my audience knows. But I know a sham trial when I see one. And this is not justice, it is not fair, and it is not to be trusted,” Kelly charged.

Kelly was not the only one to clap back at the kangaroo proceedings put on by the Jan. 6 committee.

Former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi spoke with Fox News host Sean Hannity and eviscerated Hutchinson’s accusations

“There are certain rules that must apply in a courtroom. Hearsay evidence is not admissible for example. Withholding exculpatory evidence, that is not acceptable either in a courtroom. Both seem to be acceptable here. Your thoughts on both those issues,” Hannity asked Bondi.

“Well, first Sean… that’s why people don’t trust Congress. Because of show trials just like this. Just what we experienced in impeachments one and two. This is continuing on. The committee… the un-select committee… they didn’t want to hear these witnesses because they don’t want the truth,” she asserted.

“And you know, they put on this young woman in her 20s who had been unemployed for over a year. She reached out to me because she was very excited she was moving to Palm Beach to work for the president. She loved President Trump, well after the election. She loved him and then she didn’t get the job,” Bondi noted referring to Hutchinson’s sudden inclination to switch sides for the other team.

Former President Donald Trump was understandably furious over the questionable testimony from Hutchinson,

“The lies and fabricated stories being told to the partisan Highly Unselect Committee, not only by the phony social climber who got caught yesterday, but by many others, are a disgrace to our, in serious decline, Nation,” Trump wrote Wednesday on Truth Social. “No cross examination, no real Republicans, no lawyers, NO NOTHING. Fake stories and an all Fake Narrative being produced, with ZERO pushback allowed. Unselects should be forced to disband. WITCH HUNT!”

Not only are Hutchinson’s assertions concerning Trump while he was in the SUV that day being pushed back against, but her claim of writing a note is also being contested.

Eric Herschmann, a former Trump White House lawyer who has also testified before the committee, is now saying that he wrote a handwritten note on that day, not Hutchinson, as she testified.

“Anyone who entered the Capitol without proper authority should leave immediately,” the note read, which was written on Chief of Staff Mark Meadows’ stationery and intended for Trump to release as rioters stormed the Capitol.

“The handwritten note that Cassidy Hutchinson testified was written by her was in fact written by Eric Herschmann on January 6, 2021,” a Herschmann spokesperson said. “All sources with direct knowledge and law enforcement have and will confirm that it was written by Mr. Herschmann.”

Fox News host Greg Gutfeld nailed the dog and pony show and Hutchinson’s disingenuous allegations.

“It was a one-sided charade that undermines everything presented. It’s why no one watches it unless it’s force-fed to them by the media. They thought a heavily produced special created by an ABC producer with surprise cameos featuring people you never heard of would blow your minds. But it failed, like a remake of ‘The Love Boat.’ Even testimony from Charo can’t save them. I’m old,” he quipped.

“Fact is, the committee thought this was a slam dunk. A show trial full of secondhand accounts. Who would complain? The media? Nah, they’re lapping it up like it’s AOC’s bath water,” he continued.

“Watching it reminded me of that game we played as kids, where you sat in a circle and whispered something to the person next to you until it went all the way around the circle, and by the end, it was totally different than what was whispered at the start. I think it was called Spin the Bottle,” Gutfeld added.

Then he blasted the hearsay of Hutchinson’s testimony.

“But that’s what hearsay is, and I’m not even saying it’s false. Why bother when the committee is false in the truest sense of the word? It’s the big red bow on the box of corruption brought to you by the same clowns that created hoaxes for six years. It prepped hearsay, steeped in heavily produced propaganda. Seriously, I keep waiting to hear a director yell, ‘cut, let’s do that again with a little more feeling Adam,'” he snarked.

“And it’s designed not to uncover truth, but to distract you from the real truth the crime, inflation, immigration, all the things this administration fails us on, on a massive scale. But we see through it like a condom stretched over a flashlight. I don’t know how I know. But the fact is, we know Trump, we know Trump has a temper,” Gutfeld concluded. “The fact is they created a show trial but forgot to bring the show. And now their honesty is on trial. To which I say, lock them up.”
