Joe Rogan says DeSantis would be a ‘good president…what he’s done for Florida is admirable’

Former Bernie Sanders supporter Joe Rogan appears to be backing “admirable” Gov. Ron DeSantis as the next POTUS.

Presidential politics came up during Rogan’s nearly three-hour podcast interview with actress and real-life martial artist Gina Carano that covered many different topics.

Carano teed it up by asking Rogan, who has been openly critical of President Joe Biden, if he is supporting anyone in 2024, while also noting that billionaire, would-be Twitter owner Elon Musk has expressed a preference for the Florida GOP governor in the next presidential election.

“All this stuff is happening when we have a ‘dead man’ as president…it’s not fun…Yeah, I think Ron DeSantis would work as a good president,” Rogan replied. “What he’s done for Florida has been admirable. I feel like what he did for Florida, a lot of people gave him a lot of grief, but ultimately he was correct. He was correct when it comes to, like, deaths, he was correct when it comes to protecting vulnerable populations, he was correct in terms of distribution of monoclonal antibodies, and he was furious when the government tried to pull those. They were trying to pull very effective treatments.”

Carano joked that the pro-DeSantis sentiment constituted breaking news.

What Rogan is generally alluding to is that during the COVID-19 pandemic and afterwards, DeSantis effectively balanced Florida’s public health needs with economic and educational considerations for parents and children, despite misinformation spread by the media.

As well chronicled, through various legislative initiatives along with soundbite mastery, the pro-active governor who has developed a national profile has fended off various incursions into Florida business and education by the woke left.

As a result, people are relocating to the lockdown free, no-mandate Sunshine State in droves.

Rogan, who has described himself as a socially liberal pragmatist, continued: “[DeSantis] is not perfect. He’s a human being, but what he’s done is stand up for freedoms….”

The influential Spotify podcaster who hosts “The Joe Rogan Experience” is also a big fan of former Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, a Democrat who ran for president in 2020 against Biden and others in the Dem primary, but has increasingly moved, at least publicly, in the populist, free-speech direction.

During the longform conversation, Carano, who woke Disney famously or infamously cancelled from the “Mandalorian” Star Wars spinoff over controversial social media messaging, revealed that as a first-time voter in 2020, she cast a ballot for President Donald Trump.

Carano explained that she concluded that Trump was the best person to restore America’s economy in the post-COVID environment.

According to Rogan, Trump’s polarizing personality gets in the way of his America First policies. Both of them agreed that Trump was a great comedian who also exposed the corporate media for its extreme bias.

“He broke [the news media] over his knee, and he should be very proud of that,” Carano metaphorically said.

Ron DeSantis, who is headed for reelection in November, will be just age 44 in September, which means he has a long political career ahead. Thus, 2024 doesn’t have to be his only opportunity to seek the White House.

That said, if Democrats insist on escalating their attacks on Trump, the presumptive 2024 presidential standard-bearer for the GOP, they might, however, get DeSantis instead — an equally or even more formidable candidate.
