Fmr Planned Parenthood director lays blame for Roe reversal: ‘The left has done this to themselves’

The platform for the Democratic Party has grown exceedingly more progressive over the years and now, faced with a massive defeat from the Supreme Court, one former Planned Parenthood director argued of the loss, “the left has done this to themselves.”

The 6-3 ruling from the Supreme Court on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization that overturned Roe v. Wade has prompted many Democratic politicians and talking heads to push for more dramatic measures to promote their radical agenda such as ending the filibuster and packing the court. Abby Johnson, former Planned Parenthood clinic director, and notable pro-life convert joined “Fox & Friends Weekend” to explain to co-host Pete Hegseth that the radical reflex of the left is exactly what led to the end of Roe.

When asked by Hegseth how the overturn of Roe happened, she began by asserting, “I think that we have [former President Donald] Trump to thank for this, for putting constitutionalist judges on the Supreme Court. But, I mean, really, I think the left has done this to themselves.”

“They have swung this pendulum so far to one side that – you know the safe, legal and rare argument made sense to a lot of people. It made sense to independents. It made sense to moderate Republicans,” Johnson continued. “But swinging this pendulum so far to the left, where they are now demanding abortion on demand for any reason all through nine months of pregnancy, and they want us to pay for it. That is something that just doesn’t make sense to the majority of Americans.”

“It doesn’t make sense to the bulk of Democrats,” she went on. “And so they have really done this to themselves by taking such an extremist position on abortion. And people finally rose up and said, ‘this is crazy, this is ridiculous. This is not something that I want to support.’ The states rose up, they passed legislation and now here we are with the end of Roe.”

Johnson’s take on where the blame lies was not exclusive to those on the side of life. Businessman and former presidential hopeful Andrew Yang who had previously referred to himself as an “absolutist on the fact that it should be up to a woman to decide what to do,” tweeted shortly after the Supreme Court decision was announced that Democrats have continually failed their voters.

“It feels like Democrats owe their people an apology for being bad at their jobs – they had a long time to codify Roe v. Wade, defend a balanced court, get RBG to step down, etc.,” he wrote. “Instead they got played and trounced. ‘Help undo our failures!’ is not a compelling rallying cry.”

Yang went on to predict, “The people who are going to get hurt by this the worst will be poor women in red states, while the folks who played politics with this will glide along and email people for money.”

The businessman was spot on as numerous politicians did, in fact, jump at the opportunity to use the ruling toward driving their campaign fundraisers. With the midterm elections fast approaching and early polling indicating devastating losses for the Democrats in November, they are showing that they will use any angle to galvanize voters toward supporting them because, as Fox News host Tucker Carlson laid out Friday night, they don’t care “about the sanctity of our institutions, about our norms.”

By his assessment, all they “care about is power.”
