Young ‘detransitioners’ regret swapping genders, claim the system failed them: ‘I literally lost organs’

Young, confused teenagers who are now referred to as “detransitioners” are coming forward with their regrets over transitioning from one gender to another, citing the horrific reality of what it has cost them.

“I was failed by the system. I literally lost organs,” Chloe Cole sadly told the New York Post.

Cole was only 12 years old when she decided she was transgender. She told her parents when she was 13. They proceeded to facilitate the child being put on puberty blockers and prescribed testosterone. When she turned 15, Chloe underwent a double mastectomy. She came to the realization that she had made a terrible mistake when she was 16. Now that she is 17, Chloe has become a “detransitioner” and is seeking to reverse her transition.

“I can’t stay quiet,” Cole told the media outlet. “I need to do something about this and to share my own cautionary tale.”

“I started being exposed to a lot of LGBT content and activism,” the California teen said while commenting that her exposure to all this started when she was 11 and on Instagram. “I saw how trans people online got an overwhelming amount of support, and the amount of praise they were getting really spoke to me because, at the time, I didn’t really have a lot of friends of my own.”

“Because my body didn’t match beauty ideals, I started to wonder if there was something wrong with me. I thought I wasn’t pretty enough to be a girl, so I’d be better off as a boy. Deep inside, I wanted to be pretty all along, but that’s something I kept suppressed,” Cole admitted.

“More attention needs to be paid to psychotherapy,” she asserted. “We’re immediately jumping into irreversible medical treatments when we could be focusing on empowering these children to not hate their bodies.”

Gender dysphoria among children has exploded over the last few years in large part to the left promoting and glamorizing the condition. In the UK alone, between 2009 and 2019, the condition spiked by an estimated 1,000 percent among biological males and a dumbfounding 4,400 percent among biological females. The number of young Americans identifying as transgender has doubled since 2017, according to a new Centers for Disease Control & Prevention report.

Many who transition feel social pressure from their peers and the gay community to do so. Mental health issues also play a large part in the decision.

Transitioning is happening at ever-younger ages. Puberty blockers are commonly administered at the first sign of development to children as young as 9, according to the World Professional Association for Transgender Health. Testosterone and estrogen injections are frequently prescribed at ages 13 or 14. And serious surgeries like mastectomies are sometimes performed on children as young as 13.

Medical professionals frequently adhere to the affirmative-care model, which is supported by the American Psychological Association. It affirms a patient’s expressed gender identity regardless what their age is.

A number of studies contend that as many as 80 percent of dysphoric children could ultimately experience “desistance,” coming to terms with their biological gender without resorting to transgendering.

For teens who change their minds and regret transition, the consequences of therapy and surgery can be devastating, causing emotional instability and possible suicidal tendencies.

Cole noted that transitioning actually changed her bone structure, permanently sharpening her jawline and broadening her shoulders. She struggles with increased body and facial hair as well. She has a large scar across her chest from her mastectomy, which she finds disturbing.

“The recovery was a very graphic process, and it was definitely something I wasn’t prepared for,” she stated. “I couldn’t even bear to look at myself sometimes. It would make me nauseous.”

Cole is also worried about whether she can ever have children now. Testosterone could have damaged the viability of her eggs.

“I want my voice to be heard,” Cole proclaimed. “I don’t want history to repeat itself. I can’t let this happen to other kids.”
