“Ultra-MAGA” U.S. House candidate Vernon Jones has reportedly filed a police report against his rival in the June 21 Georgia runoff election over the latter’s inflammatory social media message.
On Monday, Mike Collins tweeted, “Although some use a rape whistle for protection against sexual assault, a 9mm is the more preferred form of protection. #TheMoreYouKnow.”
The tweet was accompanied by images of a pink handgun and a purported rape whistle labeled RealVernonJones.com.
Jones and Collins are vying to win the runoff for Georgia’s 10th Congressional District east of Atlanta, a red enclave, which, as such, favors in the general election whoever emerges victorious from the two-candidate matchup.
The Trump-endorsed Jones reportedly lodged a complaint with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office.
“He’s encouraging violence against me, my family, my supporters,” Jones told Fox 5 Atlanta. “These are the same false attacks that liberals used against President Trump, Justice Kavanaugh, and Justice Clarence Thomas.”

“The context of the tweet is a 2005 rape allegation against Jones, a Democrat at the time, when he was the DeKalb County CEO. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation investigated, but the case never went to a grand jury and he was never criminally charged.” Fox 5 recalled. “A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said investigators reviewed the tweet and determined it did not break any laws, but they have Jones’ statement on file.”
According to Local 10 News, “She dropped the charges, but never recanted. Jones said the sexual encounter was consensual.”
A Collins spokesman claimed that Jones was trying to deflect from “his shady corrupt past.”
Collins also quipped, “My Democrat opponent tried to Red Flag me!”

Jones, a former state representative, switched parties and famously endorsed Trump in the 2020 election cycle, becoming one of his most vocal supporters in the process.
Perhaps responding to this controversy in the bitter primary contest in which various other allegations of impropriety are flying back and forth, Jones tweeted on Wednesday, “The same attacks the Left and the RINOs used against Herschel Walker, they’re trying to use against me. I wonder what about us scares them the most. The fact that the establishment can’t control us? Or the fact that the Democrats can’t call us racists?”

He has also said, “A Vernon Jones victory is a bad day for both Nancy Pelosi and Liz Cheney. Two for one!”
In the May 24 eight-candidate Republican primary, Collins received about 26 percent of the vote to Jones’ approximately 22 percent. Many in the GOP establishment are reportedly lining up behind Collins, but Jones has the coveted Trump “complete and total” endorsement. The six also-rans have endorsed Collins.
Vernon Jones is the ONLY candidate who will put America First, Stop the Radical Left and is FULLY Trump-Endorsed!

Evidently, at Trump’s behest, Jones abandoned his bid for the governor’s mansion and set his sights on Congress.
Collins, who owns a trucking company, is the son of the late Congressman Mac Collins.
Both candidates claim to be America First proponents, so it remains to be seen if a majority of those casting ballots next Tuesday will “feel the Vern” as Jones often puts it.
