Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is thrilled over Israel deciding to relocate El Al Airlines’ headquarters from the leftist Big Apple to sunny South Florida in a big win for business, jobs, and tourism in his state.
“Israel’s decision to move El Al airlines from New York City to South Florida is the latest example of Florida’s leadership in business expansion and international travel,” the Republican governor tweeted. “We are proud to be the hub for international tourism.”

We are proud to be the hub for international tourism.

The announcement came on Wednesday via Twitter. El Al will move its headquarters to Broward County and they are being welcomed with open arms by the Margate Community Redevelopment Agency.
Chairman of the MRCA Board Tommy Ruzzano announced that after decades in New York, the airline is relocating to base its financial, administrative, and marketing functions in a new location in Florida.
“On behalf of the MCRA, I want to join my counterparts at the county level in extending a warm welcome to our friends at El Al. We are simply ecstatic with this announcement. Our agency is committed to attracting more multinational businesses that globally put Margate on the map,” Ruzzano declared, according to Patch.
The deal comes with many benefits for Florida that include additional revenue for businesses that serve the airline such as handlers, catering, and fuel suppliers. The influx of tourism from Israel and other nations that are served by El Al will also be a big boon to Florida for its hospitality and tourism industry. Florida is already a popular destination for Israelis and El Al being based there will make it even easier for them to travel to the Sunshine State.
In a joint telephone interview on Thursday with the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Mayor Michael Udine and David Coddington, who is the senior vice president of business development for the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance, commented that airline officials made their decision after closely vetting the area for suitable schools, religious facilities, and the availability of local aviation industry talent.
Congratulations, big win for Broward County and for Florida!

“I sat in on the meetings. I watched this morph into an amazing dialogue and partnership,” Udine noted. “The El Al people really loved what we had to offer.”
“El Al has a special place for a lot of people in South Florida,” he continued. “There is a vibrant Jewish community from Miami Beach up to Boca Raton and all of Broward County.”
Awesome ! Florida is the best run state in the nation and El Al is the best airline in the world .

According to reports, the headquarters will be located in a building that is owned by New York health care entrepreneur Kenneth Rozenberg, who is also the airline’s majority shareholder. Rozenberg is the founder and CEO of Centers Health Care according to Tel Aviv business publication Globes.
Established in 1948, El Al Airlines flies 42 aircraft to 37 direct destinations around the world and hundreds of connecting destinations, according to its website.
This is not the only attempt by the state to cater to Jewish tourists. In November of 2021, it was announced that the Wyndham Dolce Kosher Hotel would be opening across the street from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, FL.
Although DeSantis is happy with new business coming to Florida, he seems to be less enthusiastic about California-based technology firms such as Twitter relocating to the state if the company brings progressive policies with it. He’s crystal clear they are welcome but would have to adjust to the way Florida does things.
