Ted Cruz slams British journos for asking why school mass shootings ‘only happen in America,’ mocking ‘American exceptionalism’

Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) finally had enough and stormed off as a Sky News “propagandist” grilled him during a vigil held for the victims of the Uvalde, Texas school massacre on Wednesday, falsely asserting that shootings like this “only happen in America.”

Cruz and Governor Greg Abbott joined hundreds of family members and friends who mourned the loss of 19 children and two teachers in the horrific shooting. The media, circling like opportunistic vultures, apparently descended on the scene to try and gin up more anti-gun sentiment.

Spouting the talking points of the left, Sky News British journalist Mark Stone attempted to corner Cruz on whether it was time for gun reform in the United States. He had the nerve to ask the senator why American exceptionalism is “so awful.”

“You know, I’m sorry you think American exceptionalism is awful. You’ve got your political agenda. God love you,” Cruz told him and then walked away as the reporter peppered him with more inappropriate questions.

Stone went after Cruz attempting to bait him by saying, “You can’t answer that.”

Cruz let his anger get the better of him and appropriately turned and told the media antagonist, “Why is it that people come from all over the world to America? Because it’s the freest, most prosperous, safest country on Earth. Stop being a propagandist.”

“You know, it’s easy to go to politics,” Cruz told the reporter at the beginning of their exchange. “Inevitably, when some violent psychopath murders people, if you want to stop violent crime, the proposals the Democrats have — none of them would have stopped this.”

“There are 19 sets of parents who are never going to get to kiss their child tonight,” he sadly stated.

The incident followed another where Democrat Beto O’Rourke attempted to shout down Governor Abbott during a press gaggle over the shooting. O’Rourke accused the governor of doing nothing about gun crime in what was evidently a staged publicity stunt. Lt. Gov. Patrick bluntly told him, “You’re out of line and an embarrassment,” and then had him removed from the gathering.

Now the media is focusing on the fact that both Cruz and Abbott will be speaking at the National Rifle Association (NRA) annual meeting in Houston on Friday as if that in itself is some sort of heinous crime.

Cruz told reporters that “inevitably when there’s a murder of this kind, you see politicians try to politicize it, you see Democrats and a lot of folks in the media whose immediate solution is to try to restrict the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens.”

He also spoke on Fox News, expressing his sorrow for the parents and the community while venting his anger at Democrats concerning the horrific situation.

As the senator grieved with his fellow Texans over the atrocities committed by a madman who likely would have killed people one way or the other, leftists tried to savage him over gun control.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) attacked Cruz over the NRA, “‘Aren’t you slated to headline a speaking gig for the NRA in three days – in Houston, no less? You can do more than pray. Faith without works is dead.”

Republicans are refusing to be bullied by leftist Democrats who are bent on gun-control and doing away with Second Amendment rights.

Former President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday he intends to speak at the NRA meeting.

“America needs real solutions and real leadership in this moment, not politicians and partisanship,” Trump stated on Truth Social. “That’s why I will keep my longtime commitment to speak in Texas at the NRA Convention and deliver an important address to America. In the meantime, we all continue to pray for the victims, their families, and for our entire nation – we are all in this together!”

Trump said on Wednesday that the elementary school shooting is a “moment in time that will never be forgotten” and conveyed his “grief and sorrow” for the victims of the mass shooting.

Andrew Follett of the Club for Growth astutely pointed out on social media that there are “two major lies” being spread by the media about mass shootings and gun control. The lengthy thread expertly exposes the dishonesty of the media on the subject.

“The idea, of course, is that Europe, for example, has strong gun control laws and therefore fewer if any mass shootings. People are tweeting all sorts of graphs about the numbers of mass shootings in different countries, but add them up, and the United States isn’t quite the shooting gallery that the media and Democrats make it out to be,” Twitchy wrote.

“A thread on how the media is telling you two major lies about mass shootings and gun control 1: Other countries with vastly stricter gun laws than the US have higher rates of mass shootings. 2: US jurisdictions w/ gun laws have exponentially higher rates of gun violence,” Follett tweeted.

“Although events in the U.S. tend to get the lion’s share of media exposure, mass shootings are clearly a worldwide issue. The US makes up about 1.15% of the world’s mass shootings while having almost 5% of the world’s population,” he continued.

“Out of 97 countries with data, the US is 64th in frequency of mass shootings and 65th in murder rate. And rates of mass shootings elsewhere are rising faster,” Follett added.
