‘Just misdirection’: Jeff Bezos summons disinfo board to fact-check Biden’s tweet on inflation cure

As crises mount and President Joe Biden continues to deflect responsibility, an orchestrated unraveling of his administration may have already begun with corporate media slowly turning away from its typical cheerleading as even The Washington Post owner, Jeff Bezos, threw the “Disinformation Board” back at Biden over an inflation tweet he dubbed “misdirection.”

Biden was capping off a week of poor attempts at blaming former President Donald Trump for the worsening economy after nearly 16 months of holding the reins when he offered up a progressive talking point and called it an economic solution.

“You want to bring down inflation?” the president asked. “Let’s make sure the wealthiest corporations pay their fair share.”

Amazon CEO Bezos, after securing a $10 billion contract with the National Security Agency, was less than approving of Biden’s attempted framing.

“The newly created Disinformation Board should review this tweet, or maybe they need to form a new Non Sequitur Board instead,” Bezos wrote. “Raising corp taxes is fine to discuss. Taming inflation is critical to discuss. Mushing them together is just misdirection.”

The billionaire invoked the highly criticized Disinformation Governance Board created under the Department of Homeland Security to discredit the forced juxtaposition. Note how Bezos did not disagree with raising taxes, but rather Biden’s narrative to promote the policy agenda. As the owner of a leftist newspaper constantly peddling the Democrats’ platform, he is clearly indicating the talking points are growing increasingly indefensible.

Proof enough of that came in the tweets from the president and his administration, of which at least one was bad enough to force the White House to issue a correction.

Biden has continually attempted to take credit for the economy resuming close to normal activity levels following the forced shutdowns of the COVID pandemic as support for his policies. He argued that record-breaking agricultural exports in 2021 were thanks to him and that the vaccine rollout was because of his leadership. He ignored that those things would not have happened if not for actions taken prior to his taking office and, thus far, the White House has only retracted one part of his claims.

“We previously misstated that vaccines were unavailable in January 2021. We should have said that they were not widely available,” the statement corrected. All of his other claims remain on social media without fact-checker notifications slapped on and with no threat of suspension for knowingly spreading bad information.

Even CNN had called out Biden for the claim and host Jake Tapper asked, “Why is the White House politicizing the pandemic by tweeting out that there was no vaccine available until Joe Biden became president? It’s not true.”

With the Consumer Price Index now reported up 8.3 percent for April over the previous year, a marginal drop from March’s reported 8.5 percent, one can only wonder how much longer corporate media will hold out on defending the Democrats’ agenda before more corrections are demanded.
