“Real Time” host Bill Maher tore into the abortion debate on Friday during his show, admitting that he has learned some surprising things about it as the issue has come to light over Roe v. Wade, such as Europe being far more restrictive concerning the procedure and that most pro-lifers are women.
“I learned things this week… that are pretty basic things that I did not know about abortion. Like in Europe, the modern countries of Europe are way more restrictive than we are or what they’re even proposing!” Maher noted. “If you are pro-choice, you would like it a lot less in Germany, and Italy, and France, and Spain, and Switzerland. Did you know that? I didn’t know that.”
Germany, France, and Spain all have abortion limits set at 14 weeks into the pregnancy, with Italy and Switzerland setting the cap at 12 weeks, according to the Daily Mail.
“I learned most people who are pro-life are women. I did not know that. Most abortions are from… mothers, people who have a kid… And I thought this was interesting, most abortions now — even when you go to a clinic are done with the pill. The pill. And pills are easy to get in America,” he added. “So, you know, for the people who say we’re going back to 1973, we’re not. That’s just factually inaccurate.”
This week Bill Maher learned European countries have far more restrictive abortion laws than we do in America and that women report being pro-life more often than men. How many people have no clue about this or about fetal pain science? If they did, some might change. pic.twitter.com/8RjUXtrbVX

He is correct. Only 7 countries allow elective abortion after 20 weeks:
US
Canada
Netherlands
Singapore
China
North Korea

Guest Paul Begala, who is a Democratic strategist and a contributor on CNN, told Maher, “We’re not going back to 1973, we’re going back to 1931,” referring to Texas law that purportedly imprisons physicians who perform abortions under the state’s trigger ban if Roe v. Wade is overturned. He also pointed out that Texas and Michigan allegedly have no abortion exceptions.
Michele Tafoya, who is a former NBC Sports reporter, took exception to Begala’s assertions and argued there should be limits to abortion.
“There’s got to be a point at which we say this is a human being capable of living outside the womb where maybe we don’t — we don’t do that,” she remarked. “I think that’s what you see a lot of in Europe and a lot of people are kind of settling around, ‘Okay, 15 weeks maybe.’”
Begala also trotted out the leftist contention that the draft opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito would somehow apply to interracial and same-sex marriage. Again, Tafoya wasn’t buying it, alluding to Alito specifically stating that the ruling would apply to abortion because it involves a “third party,” being the unborn child.
Maher went on to slam those who claim Roe v. Wade is “settled law.”
“This whole bullsh*t argument about, ‘Well, it’s settled law.’ So was segregation. Plessy vs. Ferguson was ‘settled law’ in 1896 and thank God somebody said let’s unsettle it. So that’s a bullsh*t argument. It’s what you think,” Maher commented. “If you like babies, then you’re pro-life and if you’re pro-women, you’re pro-choice.”
You guys see Bill Maher last night?
Me neither, but it turns out he did some research and learned that we have some of the LEAST restrictive abortion laws in the world, and that most pro-lifers are WOMEN.
Soon nobody will be on the Left but the crazies.

Maher then addressed Begala over the unfounded fear that overturning Roe v. Wade would have a “domino” effect on other rights.
“Don’t stir up fear now. Be honest,” Tafoya warned him.
Might have something to do with abortion being the most intentionally misrepresented debate of any political issue… by far.
The media refuse to look at facts, represent each side fairly, give the pro-life argument, or convey basic statistics and polling data.
No wonder…

He did not heed the warning and went on to assert that since abortion law is classified under the same privacy right as topics such as marriage and contraception, they too could be in peril over the ruling.
“But Clarence Thomas is — it’s an interracial marriage,” Maher responded. “I guess what I’m saying is I really feel like abortion is unique. It is because either — you just have this view that it’s murder. I could put the argument on a hat when people talk about a woman’s right. ‘Murder isn’t a right.’ If you think it’s murder — I don’t, again, crazy me…”

He once advocated for astronomical unemployment and inflation coupled with the greatest economic depression America has ever seen if that is what it takes to get rid of President Trump. We have some and Joe-tato is working on the rest of the list. Too late for him to complain about his wishes coming true.
Being an old school liberal, He realizes that today’s liberals are too far to the left making Old schoolers lean right.
It’s a natural process, as you get older, you seem to get wiser
It’s been a wonderful adventure watching Maher’s slow journey into the light. He has a long way to go but he sets the correct example for liberal journalists and commentators. Unlike so many he is open to actual facts that contradict his worldview.
Paul Begala, on the other hand, is a truly evil man. I mean evil in the classic sense of the word. Hillary’s hatchet-man, Begala will do or say ANYTHING to advance his power hungry agenda. Borderline sociopath.
Bill Maher is slowly “seeing the light”. It shows that this radicalness is new, and far diffent than the liberals of even 10-20 years ago, This is past liberal, it’s fanatical minions being yanked around by sources of “power” and “money” making utopian promices that are fantacy, way past reality.
As a woman and originally from Asia, I can attest that majority of women in Asian countries, except China, are pro-life.
