Dr. Oz is booed at Pennsylvania MAGA rally as Trump introduces him

If attendees at the latest Save America rally are any indicator, former President Donald Trump’s stellar record this primary season will be put to the test in Pennsylvania as one endorsee’s reception was, at best, mixed.

During Friday’s rain-soaked event in Greensburg, PA, Trump stood firm to his endorsement of surgeon and television personality Dr. Mehmet Oz while trying to present the tight race for the Pennsylvania Republican Senate nomination as a head-to-head matchup against businessman David McCormick. However, attendees seemed less than receptive to the president’s favorable opinion of Oz.

“Right here in Pennsylvania,” Trump said of the returning to the prosperity America had known for prior to the disastrous policies of President Joe Biden, “that starts with nominating the man who has by far the best chance to win Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senate race this fall, my friend Dr. Mehmet Oz. He’s a great man, Dr. Oz.”

Despite repeated jeering from the crowd, Trump pressed on with his defense of Oz as he argued against McCormick, “Dr. Oz is running against the liberal Wall Street Republican named David McCormack who I’ve known.”

“But he’s taken a lot of horrible, unfair and untrue shots,” Trump stated, alluding to Oz’s questionable positions on abortion, usage of Chinese manufacturing over American, and his refusal to renounce his dual citizenship with Turkey. “You know, they’re spending millions and millions. This is Wall Street. People have plenty of money. Plenty of money. They’re spending millions of dollars and treating them very unfairly.”

Trump also expressed his strong opposition to McCormick for efforts to obtain an endorsement, “In all fairness, and I will say this, he fought hard for it. He wanted it – he hired almost every person that worked anywhere, if anybody was within 200 miles of me, he hired them.”

The president noted at the rally that he was 55-0 thus far with his endorsements, but he could not get behind McCormick, “He did want my endorsement very badly, but I just couldn’t do it.”

“Dr. Oz has led an enormously successful career on television and now he’s running to save our country – just like I do – from the radical left lunatics and maniacs,” the president went on in his endorsement. “Dr. Oz is a man who truly believes in Make America Great Again or the MAGA movement. He believes it 100 percent and he is in love with our country.”

The Daily Mail reported on speaking to attendees of the rally. Amy, 53, had arrived at the event at 8:00 a.m. and said in anticipation, “Dr. Oz is gonna get booed out of here,” adding, “He’s not from the state, that’s my thing.”

“I honestly don’t know anything about him. Heard he doesn’t even live here,” 24-year-old Nick told the Daily Mail.

“We’ll see what else he comes out with,” 38-year-old Kate said after expressing she was “still on the fence,” and adding, “Trump’s support put him on the radar, but I’m not sold.”

Lynn Johnson, 55, from Ligonier, PA told Business Insider, “I just want somebody from Pennsylvania, someone who actually grew up here.”

With the primary election less than two weeks out, no mention was made of other contenders like Jeff Bartos, former ambassador Carla Sands, or conservative Kathy Barnette who maintained a statistical tie for first place with Oz and McCormick in a recent poll.
