White House unveils ‘Save the Negroes’ initiative

With crime rates spiking across the country and inflation negatively impacting every American, a recently proposed regulation from the nanny state got the brutal rebuke it deserved Sunday when one political commentator dubbed a new rule the “Save the Negroes” initiative.

During last Thursday’s White House press briefing, press secretary Jen Psaki announced two newly proposed rules from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that would essentially ban the manufacture and sale of menthol cigarettes and flavored cigars. Podcaster Jeff Charles of “A Fresh Perspective” responded to the overreach of the government with just the right amount of contempt.

“BREAKING:” he began a satirical tweet cutting to the heart of the proposal, “White House unveils “Save the Negroes” initiative which will ban the sale of pork, Hennessey, and Swisher Sweets to decrease health disparities.”

Charles continued the mock announcement with a fictitious statement from Psaki, “‘Menthols were just the beginning. We’re gotta save the blacks from themselves,’ said White House press secretary Jen Psaki.”

The Babylon Bee-worthy take was not so far from the truth as one reporter expressed the concerns that such a proposal had already garnered during the briefing, “Okay. And secondly, on the – on the menthol ban, some black community activists, the ACLU, members of the CDC have voiced concerns that it could push more of the illicit market, which would lead to racially profiling black smokers. Can this administration ensure that won’t happen?”

“Absolutely,” Psaki claimed. “Because this rule would go after manufacturers and people who sell, not individuals who smoke menthol cigarettes. And it would save lives,” (read “Save the Negroes”).

“I’d also note,” she went on, arriving at the “save the blacks from themselves” conclusion, “that the NAACP put out a statement saying, ‘For decades, the tobacco industry has been targeting African Americans and have contributed to the skyrocketing rates of heart disease, stroke, and cancer across our community. The tobacco industry is on a narrow quest for profit, and they have been killing us along the way. The NAACP has been calling for a ban on menthol cigarettes and flavored e-cigarettes for years now, and we applaud the FDA’s…plan…'”

“But what we’re talking about here is this – these rules are estimated that – it’s estimated that eliminating menthol and tobacco products could prevent up to 654,000 deaths over the next 40 years and up to 238,000 deaths among African Americans. But this is no about going after individuals smoking menthol cigarettes; this is about manufacturers and people who are selling them,” Psaki concluded.

In spite of the compounding negative impact this could have on the black community in particular, as previously reported, others highlighted precisely how absurd this level of targeted regulation was by offering up other edicts the White House could propose to further the “Save the Negroes” initiative.
