Van Jones: ‘Day-to-day reality for black folks’ worsened under Biden, Dems overpromised and underdelivered

CNN political commentator Van Jones was very blunt Friday, asserting that the day-to-day lives of black Americans have worsened under the lack of leadership by President Joe Biden and claimed that Democrats have “overpromised, underdelivered so far.”

Van Jones appeared on CNN’s “New Day” with co-host John Berman. He tore into Biden and fellow Democrats over cratering poll numbers, especially among black voters. A Gallup poll this month showed Biden’s approval rating among black Americans optimistically standing at 67 percent. The kicker is that number has dropped a shocking 20 percent since he took office. His overall approval rating according to the poll is 41.3 percent which many consider way too high.

“I think that there’s a disappointment factor that’s set in. I think a lot of black voters feel like the black community gave the most during the election, the historic election in 2020, and have gotten the least,” he told Berman in response to a question asking him what he thought was behind the cataclysmic ratings.

“If you look at voting rights: so far nothing,” he remarked. He also noted a lack of progress on issues such as police reform and student loan assistance.

Inflation is sinking Biden, according to Jones. He contends it is the primary factor that is making life miserable for black Americans.

“At the end of the day, ordinary folks are looking at their bills,” he astutely commented. From groceries to gas, Americans are being crushed by inflation.

“The day-to-day day reality for black folks hasn’t improved,” Jones charged. “In fact, because of inflation and other things, it’s gotten worse and so you’re starting to see that disappointment factor set in.”

Black voters allegedly feel like they were sold a bogus load of goods during the 2020 election. They were ostensibly not repaid for their loyalty to Democrats and got nothing in return, according to Jones. He went on to press that the administration had “overpromised” and “underdelivered so far,” failing to get much of anything done in the Senate.

“I think that when you have a community that feels that it rescued the Democratic Party, maybe rescued American democracy, and can’t get police reform done after George Floyd?” he noted, “Then there’s something wrong and that disappointment factor starts to show up.”

“Well, again, this idea, ‘Well, look, Trump was here, he’s terrible, we’re going to replace him, and we’re going to give you 100% of what you want with 50% of the votes in the Senate.’ The math never made sense,” Jones added.

“So, you could pass these big bills through the House, but you couldn’t even sometimes get a hearing in the Senate,” he said.

“And so … by the time you get to the summertime, it’s like, ‘Hey, I’m hearing all this good stuff is supposed to be happening, but it’s never getting signed by the president.’ And so, when you overpromise so much in the beginning of the year, and you’re underdelivering at the end of the year — and don’t forget, Build Back Better, et cetera — you suddenly wind up with a disappointment factor plus inflation,” Jones concluded.

  1. Just a few months ago he’s crowing that fkjbiden delivered the best speech he EVER heard from a president at the state of the union address .

  4. The democrat party delivered for blacks alright, the problem is they delivered for “black criminals” and not for law abiding blacks! Law abiding blacks want the same things that law abiding whites want, and that faction got nothing from them. Ergo more blacks are identifying as Republicans now than before Biden was elected.

    They’ve been doing that since the advent of LBJs “Great Society.” The idea was good, implementation has sucked big time. Trump’s policies gave black Americans the biggest boost in this nation since the end of slavery. Only leftist dem pols can refuse to admit that.

  8. Van Jones is saying the Biden regime has not delivered on their promises. When have the democrats (pick one) eves delivered on their promises to the black people? For that matter when have they delivered on their promises to anyone other than their major donors? The democrats have been doing this for years if not decades. Yet they keep hoping for different results. Maybe 45 was so bad after all, eh.

You deserve the high prices. biden and camel hairs promised that they would try to stop usage of fossil fuels during their campaign. To everyone it is obvious what that means. Thanks to the media, the democrats in Congress, and all of the rest of the Trump haters, the nation is now getting what it deserves, for putting this extortionist into the WH.
