Dem Van Jones worries about Biden’s ‘foggy and meandering’ presser; ‘like Reagan at the end’

Democratic Party operatives in the media dialed up the gaslighting to high as they sought to put a positive spin on President Joe Biden’s first press conference of 2022 where the deeply unpopular leader defended his dismal record and sought to bolster the morale of a demoralized party.

While some like NBC’s Yamiche Alcindor sang Biden’s praises by putting the proverbial lipstick on a pig, CNN’s Van Jones was far more realistic in describing the dumpster fire of a presser and a president whom he described as “foggy” and “meandering” while calling for Democrats to circle the wagons in order to prevent a bloodbath in the November midterm elections.

Jones appeared on CNN’s “OutFront” on Wednesday where he was asked about Biden’s commitment to retaining Kamala Harris as his running mate in 2024, a ticket that considering that his VP is even more disliked than himself isn’t likely to energize and inspire voters to turn out in great numbers to staunch the political bleeding.

While throwing an SOP to “a lot” of Dem voters, likely meaning one crucial demographic, Jones was decidedly more gloomy than his fellow media activists.

“I think a lot of Democratic voters appreciate that,” Jones said. “That’s the one time that you don’t want to give any fuzzy, foggy, let me tell you a long story, answer, clear and direct, they are a team, he is staying together, they are going to fight it forward.”

He added, “Look, I think that part of the reason that answer stood out so much is because some of the other answers were kind of foggy and meandering, I think you just have to be honest that you can be a foggy, meandering president, say, like Reagan near the end, if you’re winning.”

Then the man who described the 2016 election as a “whitelash” warned, “But if you are foggy and meandering on key questions and you’re also not winning, then you’ve got a real problem, and so I think the real challenge that you have is the numbers are out there that are bad, but this party has got to come together, and start putting some wins on the board for this president. They are either going to hang together or they’re gonna hang separately in the fall.”

Jones’ reference to hanging draws on remarks attributed to founding father Benjamin Franklin and was possibly a sly dog whistle to viewers meant to invoke the emotionally charged visions of lynching that have been bandied about by Democrats and their fellow travelers including VP Harris who referred to actor Jussie Smollett’s hate hoax as a “modern day lynching” in 2019.

While some might suggest that Biden’s foggy and meandering presser is nothing new and that he has spent much of his presidency in the fog, it was a high-risk strategy trotting him out for such an extended Q & A session with reporters, a sign perhaps of increasing desperation and dread over the upcoming midterms.
