Even though her ratings are in a rapidly accelerating death spiral, MSNBC’s Joy Reid will likely continue to have iron-clad job security largely because pulling the plug on her failing show will inevitably result in accusations of racism against the network.
At least that’s the theory of Fox News host Greg Gutfeld who offered up his keen insight during Wednesday’s edition of “The Five” during a discussion about the left’s hysterical reaction to the $44 billion sale of Twitter to Tesla/SpaceX CEO Elon Musk who is an outspoken defender of free speech.
Following some choice clips of Reid’s unhinged ranting including her trivializing the Holocaust to make the point that “Twitter is not the government, they are a private company that says you’re not allowed to be a Nazi on Twitter,” as well as suggesting that Musk has a secret desire to bring 1980s South African apartheid to Twitter, Gutfeld laid it out.
“I can’t love a story more than this story,” he said. “It’s like we got a free election result, you know, in which we won and we get to see all the people who dislike us, not that we dislike them, but who dislike us, break down in public. It really is like 2016, except instead of Trump winning, the First Amendment won, isn’t that beautiful?”
“Joy Reid has built a foolproof career insurance plan,” he added. “She has MSNBC so terrified, that like they can’t fire her because she’s just gonna call them racist, too.”
“She calls everybody racist, and that’s her game, and that’s her scam,” he said, “and the MSNBC management are cowards for letting her do this but, that’s what they chose to do.”
MSNBC’s all-star lineup of left-wing kooks and Democratic Party shills is among the most toxic on cable television but few are more blatantly vile than “the race lady” when it comes to talking toxic trash about race and conjuring crackpot theories against what she seems to believe is a vast “white supremacist” conspiracy that is present everywhere in American society.
But Reid’s tiresome act is wearing very thin with the ratings for “The Reid Out” at an all-time low and dropping fast with even hardened leftists tuning out as her audience evaporates.

According to Fox News, “’ReidOut’ averaged 1.1 million viewers during the news-heavy month, a 31% decline from April of last year. She also shed 11% of viewers who tuned in last month and a staggering 51% compared to the show’s debut month of July 2020.”
“‘ReidOut’ has also lost 57% of her total audience among the advertiser-coveted demographic of adults age 25-54 since the program launched in July 2020, finishing April with a dismal demo average of only 124,000 viewers. ‘ReidOut’ viewership during April was MSNBC’s least-watched month during the weeknight 7 p.m. hour among the critical demo since July 2015,” Fox News reported, citing data from Nielsen Media Research, a firm that measures television viewership.
Gutfeld just may be onto something.
