Former White House COVID-19 task force member Dr. Deborah Birx has resurfaced, not coincidentally just in time to promote her new book, the latest in a line of tell-all accounts from Trump administration insiders seeking to cash in while dumping on their ex-boss.
Dr. Birx retired amidst a firestorm of criticism after she was busted for her traveling out of state for the 2020 Thanksgiving holiday, ignoring her own travel advice as well as the CDC’s guidance in a scandal that came during the time that she was reportedly angling for a job with the incoming Biden administration. She appeared on ABC’s “Good Morning America” where she served up her juicy gossip.
The longtime bureaucrat kicked off her publicity tour by sitting down to discuss the just-released “Silent Invasion: The Untold Story of the Trump Administration, COVID-19, and Preventing the Next Pandemic Before It’s Too Late,” and to give her account of the horrors of her service under Trump.
Likely to get the most attention was Birx’s description of the infamous press conference where the former POTUS wasn’t clear while discussing possible alternative ways to mitigate the virus, referring to a “disinfectant” which was quickly distorted by his many antagonists who falsely insisted that he told Americans to inject bleach.
After the longtime Clinton family lickspittle George Stephanopoulos teed up a selectively edited clip of Trump’s controversial remarks, the “scarf lady” laid it on thick,

“That’s why I wrote about it in the book, cause this was a tragedy on many levels,” she said as she laid the groundwork to portray Trump in as negative a light as possible.
“As you can see, he wasn’t speaking to me, he was speaking to the PhD scientist who presented the data…” she continued. “At the beginning I didn’t even know what was happening,” indicating that she was upset that she had not been consulted by the Trump.
“I couldn’t understand how disinfectant and sunlight for outdoor playground equipment became this and I think the scientists and the president had talked about it having a potential therapeutic.”
In another media appearance, Birx claimed that she was “paralyzed,” a hyperbolic statement that will likely generate enough curiosity to fuel book sales.

While Trump wasn’t as clear as he probably should have been during the fateful presser, Dr. Birx’s sensationalistic account of the “bleach” story, which despite being in heavy rotation in media and Democrat talking points was a bit less of an open and shut case than many would have suggested.
According to trusty fact-checker PolitiFact, which provided the actual context of the transcript, Trump’s remarks were “not clear” and also called out Joe Biden’s claim that Trump instructed Americans to ingest bleach.

Many on Twitter were skeptical of Birx and her sudden reemergence from laying low to hit the media circuit just in time to pimp her book.

According to Amazon’s blurb on what it promotes as the “definitive, inside account of the Trump Administration’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic,” the book is penned by “a lifelong federal health official who had worked at the CDC, the State Department, and the US Army across multiple presidential administrations.”

Dr. Birx joins the likes of John Bolton, William Barr, James Comey, and Omarosa among others as embittered former subordinates who have sought to settle scores while fattening their bank accounts with books that get much attention from the corrupt media before they ultimately end up in the discount bin.
