Multiple reports are coming in that a Texas National Guard soldier has gone missing and may have drowned attempting to rescue illegal immigrants crossing the Rio Grande into the United States on the southern border.
The incident occurred in the river near Eagle Pass, Texas on Friday, according to Fox News. The soldier’s body has not been recovered according to the latest report from the Texas Department of Public Safety. An illegal immigrant’s body has been reportedly recovered.
It is unknown how many migrants the unidentified soldier was attempting to rescue and there are few details concerning the report.
Fox News National Correspondent Bill Melugin Broke the story on Twitter, “BREAKING: Multiple sources tell me a Texas National Guard soldier has just drowned in the Rio Grande here in Eagle Pass while trying to save migrants in the water. Texas DPS confirms, and tells me a body has been recovered. I’m told a statement will be coming out soon. @FoxNews.”

“UPDATE: We are now being told the body recovered is not the soldier, it is possibly a migrant, and efforts are ongoing to find his or her body, as the soldier never resurfaced and the situation is still being handled as a drowning. Statement from TX Military Department: @FoxNews,” Melugin reported.

The Texas Military Department announced via a statement that a soldier assigned to Operation Lone Star “has gone missing along a river during a mission-related incident.”
“The Soldier has not been found,” the statement contended, calling reports of a death “inaccurate,” but at the same time, it is being treated as a drowning.
“The Texas Military Department, Texas DPS and Border Patrol are working rapidly to find the Soldier,” the statement declared.
Dive teams are still searching for the soldier.
The incident comes as the border crisis continues to spiral out of control with no end in sight.
According to The Sun, last month, three people fought for their lives in the river near the border town of Laredo, Texas. Their heads barely broke the surface as they struggled to cross.
“You don’t have life jackets, nothing? They’re drowning, these guys!” a local fisherman named Jesus Vargas, who took video of the tragedy, could be heard shouting at US Border Patrol agents who were standing on the shoreline nearby.
“That girl didn’t come out no more!” Vargas yelled as he apparently watched a girl drown.
The man would go on to use his fishing reel to save one boy, who was approximately 13-years-old, but he allegedly couldn’t save the rest of them.

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden is evidently planning to move the Border Patrol from the northern border to the southern border as the administration anticipates ending Title 42, according to Fox News. That event will ostensibly result in a massive surge of illegal immigrants crossing the border.
Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas) reported on Thursday that the Biden administration told him it’s planning to relocate law enforcement officers from the northern border to deal with a massive influx of migrants preparing to cross the southern border when Title 42 ends.

Cuellar, who represents a border community and opposes many of Biden’s border policies, also asserted that it looks like the president is more interested in quickly moving migrants into the U.S. rather than enforcing border security.
“What we’ve gotten from the White House is their plan to handle this large number of people. Part of that plan is to move some of the officers from the northern part of the United States to the southern part. But that’s only temporary,” Cuellar said in a Fox News Digital interview. “It’s almost like bringing people so they can be more efficient in allowing the migrants to come into the United States… It’s ‘how do we move the migrants faster from the border out into the interior?’”
