The New York Police Department has reportedly made an arrest in the vicious and gruesome slaying of New York City mom Orsolya Gaal, who was stabbed repeatedly 58 to 60 times and then stuffed in a duffel bag and left by the side of the road.
David Bonola, a 44-year-old handyman who is alleged to be Gaal’s ex-lover, was taken into custody just before 1 a.m. on Thursday after surrendering to police. He is being charged with murder, criminal tampering, and criminal possession of a weapon according to the NYPD. He has no criminal history in New York City. There was no sign of a break-in at the scene, so police concluded that Gaal knew her attacker.
According to the New York Post, the handyman gave a full confession to the murder after being arrested. He claimed they had an argument and it sent him into a fit of unfettered rage, beating and stabbing her at least 58 times in the neck, torso, and left arm.
Gaal was 51-years-old and the mother of two. Her body was discovered Saturday morning less than a mile from her home in Forest Hills.

The police were tipped off to her body by a call at approximately 8:10 a.m. on Saturday with a report of “a suspicious bag with blood on it at the corner of Metropolitan Avenue and Jackie Robinson Parkway.”
There was a blood trail that led back to her home as well. Bonola’s bloody boots were found in a garbage can.
Gaal’s 13-year-old son who was home at the time of the brutal murder was questioned by police and then let go. The other 17-year-old son was with her 53-year-old husband, Howard Klein, in Oregon visiting colleges.
Gaal had told her son she was going to a show at Lincoln Center with friends on Friday evening. Then she went to the Forest Hills Station House restaurant in Queens, according to CBS News. She reportedly waited 40 minutes for someone before heading home. After coming home she was stabbed to death in the basement and then stuffed into a black Bauer hockey bag.

“Orsolya was here on Friday around 11:45 to 12:30. She came in alone she left alone. She had her usual — a Moscow mule,” manager Gabe Veras told CBS News. “She had come back from a concert, seeing her favorite composer. She was delighted at that. She was elated that she saw this composer live. She was very into the arts and music.”
Gaal’s husband is the founder of the financial advisory firm RK Equity, according to WPIX. He received a threatening text message that chilled him to the bone after the murder: “Your wife sent me to jail some years ago when you were living near Austin Street in Forest Hills. I’m back, don’t call the police or I will kill your family.” Another report claims it said, “Your whole family is next.”
Surveillance footage appears to show someone dragging what looks like a stuffed duffel bag along the sidewalk at about 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, according to NBC New York.
Additional information is expected to be released at a news conference on Thursday.
