Survivors of the horrific 2013 Boston Marathon terrorist attack spoke out this week concerning convicted killer Dzhokhar Tsarnaev receiving COVID relief funds while appealing his death sentence for murdering three people, including an 8-year-old boy nine years ago.
The victims can never forget that day. Among them is Robert Wheeler, who literally gave the shirt off his back to help victims following the blast. He told Fox News that April 15 “still remains as profound and mixed of emotions as the day of my first marathon in 2013.”
Tsarnaev and his brother Tamerlan (who died in the chase and a shootout following the bombing,) coordinated and conducted the brutal attack. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is awaiting his sentence in a maximum federal prison in Florence, Colorado. The brothers used two homemade pressure-cooker bombs that killed three people and injured over 260 others that tragic day. Seventeen of those injured lost at least one limb in the bombings.
The Boston Marathon bomber was convicted on 30 terrorism charges and was given the death penalty for six of them. That sentence was later reversed by a federal court and was then reinstated by the Supreme Court in March. He was also ordered to pay $101 million in restitution so when Dzhokhar Tsarnaev received a $1,400 COVID payment it came as a nasty shock to his victims.

Tsarnaev’s victims have seen very little in the way of restitution from him despite the fact that he reportedly bought presents for family and friends while in prison.
“It is a betrayal of our justice system after I grew up trusting it,” Wheeler remarked to Fox News. “I realize now that America as I loved it does not exist. And not only is life unfair, but it is truly unjust. Since the bombing, I have known hunger and cold, yet he lives not knowing hunger or cold on our taxpayers’ tab. It has been far more traumatic than the actual bombing seeing how sold-out and soft this nation has become … where a terrorist who wrote his praise to Allah in his blood is treated better than those we call victims or heroes.”
He declared that he will run Monday in the Boston Marathon with his “head held high enjoying our race despite the injustices. I will be sure to do it my way and do my best to keep my eyes dry as the roller coaster of emotions that Boston has become hits me.”
“Yes, it held me back with hearing and traumatic brain injury issues, but I am anything but afraid,” Wheeler proclaimed. “I am parched and thirsting to embrace life and nothing is going to stop me until my last breath. We will continue to fight to see that Tsarnaev pays with his life, as life is a gift he lost his privilege to.”

In the end, Tsarnaev did not get to keep the stimulus check that he received. A federal judge ordered that he turn that over along with any funds left in his inmate trust account as restitution to his victims.
“We witnessed evil, and then we witnessed so much good at the same time,” Marc Fucarile, who lost a leg that day and almost died, told Fox News.
Fucarile noted that the $1,400 payment the bomber received was more than his Social Security disability payments each month. He doubts that Tsarnaev will be executed while President Joe Biden is in office.
“It’s disgusting that criminals and terrorists have more rights,” he asserted. “My wife gets $700 with no arms and legs, and he gets a $1,400 check? It’s sick in this country that there are Democratic, liberal politicians that will vote for gentlemen like him to stay alive and to get paid out of taxpayer money.”
Meanwhile, the FBI has joined Massachusetts law enforcement agencies in investigating the theft of Boston Police Department uniforms. The uniforms were stolen from a Weymouth business ahead of the Boston Marathon, according to Fox News.
The uniforms were reportedly stolen between 3:30 p.m. March 27 and 9:30 a.m. March 28 according to authorities. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest of those involved.
