A man disguised in scrubs and posing as a home healthcare worker was fatally shot after he allegedly broke into a southeast Houston home late Monday night.
The 65-year-old female resident was home alone and told police after the ordeal that she heard a knock on the door and saw a man dressed as a nurse on her front porch. The incident occurred sometime around 11:30 pm in the 12500 block of Cooperstown Drive near the Gulf Freeway, KHOU-11 reported.
The man attempted to use the disguise as a means of entry without force, but the older woman didn’t fall for the ruse. It was at that time she called her son, who lives nearby, for help, according to Houston Police.
The son, 40, arrived at the home either right at the time or immediately after the man in scrubs dropped the gambit and allegedly broke in through the front door.
It would be his last act on earth.
Upon arrival, the son immediately opened fire and killed the would-be intruder before he could do any harm.

“I heard, ‘bang, bang, bang, bang, bang!’ Five or six gunshots,” a neighbor named Yazmin told Fox26.
Thirteen-year-old neighbor Nicole said, “It was really, really frightening.”
“We were hearing multiple gunshots,” she recalled, adding that her mother didn’t know what to do at the time. “All she wanted to do was take care of me and my sisters.”
One neighbor name Mike described the neighborhood as full of retirees and usually very quiet.
“We sit out here all day long,” he said. “I couldn’t believe it. Last night, when I came out, there were cars everywhere. Police cars.”
“I just feel really, really bad for her. She deserves so much better.” Nicole said of her elderly neighbor. “I just feel scared now because I don’t know if it’s going to happen again.”
When asked if she felt safe in her own home, she shook her head and replied with a whisper, “I don’t feel safe,” she told Fox26.
“It doesn’t look like there’s any relation at all, it was just a random thing,” Houston Police Department Lt. J.P. Horelica told KHOU. “The home health care that dropped on the original radio was part a ruse to try to gain entry in the home. When that didn’t work, he tried to force entry in there.”

An investigation is currently underway and will likely go to a grand jury, but the son had not been charged with any wrongdoing as of Tuesday.
In a related story reported here, an armed intruder was shot dead by a homeowner in the ordinarily quiet California suburb of Fairfield last July. The married couple in their sixties was enjoying breakfast when the suspect knocked on the door. After scoping out the situation with their Ring camera and not recognizing the man, they reportedly decided against answering. When the suspect, 27, allegedly tried to break in, the homeowner used his legally owned firearm to protect himself and his wife.
Naturally, stories like these do not make it on mainstream television or taxpayer-funded radio (NPR), for leftists fear the “good guy with a gun” story even more than they fear unmasked preschoolers.
Well, maybe about the same.
