Zelenskyy leads world to condemn horrific civilian slaughters: ‘See what bastards you’ve raised’

Atrocities committed by Russian forces in Ukraine where civilians have reportedly been massacred have members of the international community declaring the war crimes as genocide as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemns the senseless killings and tells Russian mothers to “see what bastards you’ve raised.”

Evidence has emerged from the town of Bucha and others around the capital of Kyiv, Ukraine that shows civilians may have been deliberately killed in ghastly crimes and dumped in mass graves. The Associated Press reported that Ukrainian officials have found the bodies of 410 civilians in areas that had recently been recaptured by Russian forces.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense shared a video allegedly taken from the streets of Bucha where bodies are strewn about, some with their hands still tied behind their backs following reports of close-range executions.

Zelenskyy did not mince words when he posted his outrage at the horrors that have reportedly been committed which, by his assessment, were entirely preventable. “Bucharest, NATO Summit Declaration. April 3, 14 years ago. There was a chance to prevent, so that Russia didn’t come,” he wrote.

“Now. Russia has come,” he went on. “Mothers of Russian soldiers should see that. See what bastards you’ve raised. Murderers, looters, butchers.”

French President Emmanuel Macron called this “clear evidence of war crimes” and demanded “a new round of sanctions and very clear measures.” Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez echoed the sentiment and added that those responsible should “answer [for] these alleged cases of crimes against humanity, war crimes and, why not say it, of genocide, too.”

“The bloody massacres perpetrated by Russian soldiers deserve to be called by name,” Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki stated. “This is genocide.”

American politicians also joined the call as Rep. Peter Meijer (R-MI) said justice must be pursued.

While genocide requires “specific intent” to prove, the atrocities produced remain the same. Zelenskyy appeared on CBS News to speak with Margaret Brennan on “Face the Nation” and he stated, “Indeed, this is genocide.”

“The elimination of the whole nation and the people…This is about the destruction and extermination of all these nationalities…this is the torture of the whole nation,” he expressed after he said, “I don’t comprehend the kids who were killed and tortured.”

“I don’t know what law or what imprisonment term would be adequate for this. As the father of two children and as a president,” Zelenskyy explained, “I think that these people, they are put behind the bars, this is one too little for what they have done.”

Zelenskyy later released a video about the atrocities and spoke directly to Russians, and Russian mothers in particular.

“I want every mother of every Russian soldier to see the bodies of the people killed in Bucha, in Irpin, in Hostomel,” he stated before asking, “What did they do? Why were they murdered? What did the man who was riding his bicycle down the street do? Why did they torture ordinary civilians in an ordinary peaceful city? Why [were] women strangled after ripping their earrings out of their ears? How was it possible to rape and kill women in front of their children? To abuse their bodies even after their deaths? Why did they drive tanks onto people’s bodies? What did the Ukrainian town of Bucha do to your Russia? How could that have happened?”

“Russian mothers. Even if you were raising [looters], how did they become [butchers]?” he asked as he foisted blame on to them as well. “You couldn’t [be unaware] of what your children were like. You couldn’t have missed it, that they were without everything human, without soul, without heart. They killed knowingly and with pleasure.”

“I want all the leaders of the Russian Federation to see how their orders are being carried out…and [share] responsibility for these murders, for these tortures, for these hands blown off by explosives that lie in the streets, for shots fired into the backs of people tied up,” he continued.

Of the reputation of Russia going forward, he stated, “This is how the Russian state will be perceived from now on. This is your likeness. Your culture and your human form died at the same time with Ukrainian men and women that you’ve come to.”

At this time, Ukraine’s delegation negotiating with Russia said Moscow has informally agreed to most of the proposals to draw down the war, but has signed nothing in confirmation as the invasion rages on.
