Senator Ted Cruz addressed the removal of President Joe Biden from office using the 25th Amendment due to his alleged cognitive decline during his “Verdict with Ted Cruz” podcast on Thursday, asserting he’s not in favor of it because it’s “dangerous as hell.”
Co-host Michael Knowles asked Cruz during the podcast, “It seems clear, I think even to honest liberals, that Joe Biden has some age-related impairment. He’s not the man he was five or 10 years ago and he was never all that sharp to begin with. So, it does raise the question. Should we be talking about invoking the 25th Amendment?”
“There’s no doubt he is diminished—and diminished significantly due to age,” the senator responded. “I think the threshold for the 25th Amendment is really damn high. And it’s particularly damn high when the voters were on notice of the impairment and elected him anyway.”
Cruz commented, “Look, it was not a secret a year and a half ago that Joe Biden had, you know, lost about 65 miles on his fastball.”
“Right,” Knowles said, agreeing with the assertion.
“So, I would be hesitant to go down that road of the 25th Amendment. I think it’s dangerous as hell,” Cruz went on to state.

“I think having a president in office who is less than fully aware of what’s going on, who our enemies believe is less than fully aware of what’s going on, who our friends believe is less than fully aware of what’s going on, who everybody believes is, to a significant degree, out of it—that’s a real problem,” the senator contended.
Cruz went on to state that Biden’s mental decline was one of the reasons that Putin invaded Ukraine. That Biden “is so weak and ineffective, he didn’t believe there would be meaningful pushback.”
On Monday, Cruz also said that America is living through a “Mr. Magoo presidency” during an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity. That characterization was referred to during the podcast as well.

The senator’s remarks follow a call by Fox News host Tucker Carlson to remove Biden from office using the 25th Amendment to do so.
Cruz did not directly address Carlson’s suggestion but made it clear he thought it was a very bad idea allegedly because once used it could be invoked again and again against sitting presidents by members of an opposing political party.
Carlson called Biden “a man who is losing the ability to regulate his emotions,” on Monday.

That comment was in reference to Biden appearing to call for regime change in Russia while he was in Poland, which he now denies doing.
“All right. Joke’s over, too much is at stake,” Carlson remarked. “If there was ever a time, if there was, in US history, ever a time, to invoke the 25th Amendment, it is now. As Joe Biden himself put it, ‘For God’s sakes, this man cannot remain in power,’ for all of our sakes.”
