Stark difference in Ketanji Brown Jackson hearings centers around question on beer NOT asked

The confirmation hearing for President Joe Biden’s Supreme Court nominee, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson has been relatively smooth, compared to the chaotic confirmation of former President Donald Trump’s nomination of Justice Brett Kavanaugh, and even Justice Amy Coney Barrett.

Fox News host John Roberts mused that he hasn’t even heard one Republican ask whether or not the judge “likes beer,” which was a question asked during the Kavanaugh confirmation that turned into a grilling following the explosive allegation of sexual assault from Christine Blasey Ford.

During a segment discussing Brown Jackson’s confirmation on “America Reports,” co-hosts Sandra Smith and Roberts noted that the judge believes those in her profession must “rule without fear or favor.”

Throwing it over to former Assistant U.S. Attorney Andy McCarthy, Roberts wondered whether “she’ll win any Republicans over with that argument, Andy?”

“I think [Sen. John] Cornyn pointed out, as a Supreme Court Justice, you have a lot more leeway to get out of your methodology and kind of impose the law,” McCarthy responded while claiming that Brown Jackson is ultimately avoiding “discussing philosophy.”

“Really interesting, Andy,” noted Smith. “You stop for a moment and you see the exchanges that we have seen so far and the way the day has gone so far for this nominee, and you are reminded what, you know, Brett Kavanaugh went through, Amy Coney Barrett, and the stark difference in the way that the nominee is being questioned by in this case Republicans of the nominee.”

“There’s no question there is a huge difference in tone and tenor. She has not been asked even whether she drinks beer, let alone what beer she drinks,” Roberts quipped.
