In yet another horrific incident in crime-ridden New York City where authorities routinely free recidivists, a man allegedly followed a woman home and stabbed her to death in her lower Manhattan apartment early Sunday morning.

Several media outlets described the suspect in the death of Christina Yuna Lee, 35, as a homeless career criminal. Cops say that she was found dead in a bathtub with multiple stab wounds. A kitchen knife may have been the murder weapon.

Eerie surveillance video allegedly depicts the man following close behind her in the hallway of the building. According to the landlord, the suspect had gained entry to the secure apartment building by grabbing the front door before it closed.

The suspect, 25, apparently spotted Lee after she got out of a cab and tailed her up six flights of stairs to her residence.

The NYPD responded after neighbors in the building heard screams coming from Lee’s apartment and called 911.

“Responding cops found the suspect…inside the apartment and covered in blood. [He] allegedly tried to flee the grisly scene via the fire escape before barricading himself inside — prompting the NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit to bust down the door, according to sources,” the New York Post reported. Cops found the suspect hiding under a bed.

Detectives are still trying to determine a motive for the crime. According to the New York Daily News, the suspect has had numerous run-ins with the law.

This includes “eight prior arrests, three of them still pending in Manhattan court, mostly for low-level offenses in the subway system, police sources said. He was freed without bail in three of those cases including a Sept. 28 assault case where he punched a man at a subway turnstile and a Jan. 6 arrest on charges of criminal mischief and escaping police custody. [He] was due back in court on all three outstanding offenses on March 3.”

Watch a report on this ghastly incident aired by ABC7NY:

In a statement, New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who got elected in the Democrat-dominated city at least in part on a law-and-order platform (but recently was focusing on guns and also promoting a plant-based diet,) said the following:

“I and New Yorkers across the city mourn for the innocent woman murdered in her home last night in Chinatown, and stand with our Asian brothers and sisters today. While the suspect who committed this heinous act is now in custody, the conditions that created him remain, The mission of this administration is clear: We won’t let this violence go unchecked.”

Adams’ goal is being hampered by New York’s catch-and-release, so-called bail reform law as well as a George Soros-backed Manhattan district attorney who seems not particularly enthusiastic about prosecuting criminals.

Brian Chin, the owner of the building, blasted the DA, Alvin Bragg, the Daily Mail reported.

“This all could have been avoided. This guy should never have been out of the street. And it’s DA Alvin Bragg playing politics with people’s lives and the Asian community has been hurt. To have a DA who has won those horrific crimes right on his doorstep. And he doesn’t even bother to show up. It’s disgraceful.”

Chin described Lee as a “wonderful human being” whose “smile lit up the room.”

She apparently had moved into the city from New Jersey about a year ago to pursue career opportunities in the advertising field.

Last month, a suspect described as a homeless man with a criminal record pushed an Asian woman in front of an oncoming subway train in the Times Square station in midtown Manhattan.

All suspects are presumed innocent until or unless they are convicted in a court of law of any alleged crimes.
