1619 Project founder Nikole Hannah-Jones scrubbed a tweet on Monday in which she asserted that millions of Americans “don’t mind the open racism” after being on the receiving end of massive blowback for her comments and her attack against mega-podcaster Joe Rogan.
Hannah-Jones’ remarks followed New York Times reporter Matthew Rosenberg sharing a tweet commenting on the controversy surrounding popular podcast host Joe Rogan. Musicians Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, and Nils Lofgren along with U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy are among those who have recently called on Spotify to censor Rogan over his comments about the coronavirus, claiming he is spreading dangerous “misinformation.”
“Joe Rogan is what he is. We in the media might want to spend more time thinking about why so many people trust him instead of us,” Rosenberg astutely tweeted.
Hannah-Jones responded, stating that the reason Americans listen to Rogan is because of “open racism” and that her claim was “not a mystery.”
“With respect, I don’t get this. We need to understand why millions of Americans don’t mind the open racism? It’s not a mystery. Been reporting on it for years. So, what do we do with that?” the former New York Times reporter said in her now-deleted tweet.

Despite nixing her tweet, she still responded to others who commented on Rosenberg’s initial statement.
Replying to a person who stated that the word “racism” is used currently to mean that a person dislikes someone else, Hannah-Jones shared a compilation video of Rogan saying the N-word. The person replied that even if Rogan did harbor racist views, he still maintains the right to his platform. Hannah-Jones “agreed” with the premise.
Agreed. He has the right to say whatever he wants. Spotify has the right to platform him or not. I’ve never argued otherwise. My original comment was in response to tweet that people like him because of what they are not getting from “media” and what that is, exactly.

In a tweet on Sunday, Hannah-Jones also alleged that Rogan “dabbles in racist tropes” and that his supporters are “fine with that because apparently the opposite of woke is racist?”
Does working class, like ever, include people who aren’t white? Do these conversations always have to be so sophomoric? Rogan dabbles in racist tropes and y’all are fine with that because apparently the opposite of woke is racist? https://t.co/aFKWP9loJk

Attacks from Hannah-Jones as she screams “racism” are nothing new. In November, she also attacked anyone who celebrated Kyle Rittenhouse’s acquittal as a victory for Second Amendment rights.
“In this country, you can even kill white people and get away with it if those white people are fighting for black lives,” she tweeted. “This is the legacy of 1619.”

She is also known for backtracking on her spurious takes on issues and deleting tweets.
Rogan is defending his podcasts that deal with vaccine and mask mandates. He contends that he wants to hear people from both sides of the issue and he’s uncomfortable with labeling opinions as “misinformation.”
“The problem I have with the term misinformation, especially today, is that many of the things that we thought of as misinformation just a short while ago are now accepted as fact,” the podcaster remarked. ‘Like, for instance, eight months ago, if you said, ‘If you get vaccinated, you can still catch COVID, and you can still spread COVID,’ you’d be removed from social media. They would. They would ban you from certain platforms.”

Rogan has defended his interviews with Dr. Peter McCullough, a cardiologist, and Dr. Robert Malone, an infectious disease specialist on COVID. But he has also interviewed Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN’s chief medical correspondent, and Dr. Michael Osterhom, a member of President Joe Biden’s COVID advisory board.
People are seriously not impressed with Hannah-Jones or her viewpoints:
They haven't actually listened to him. They don't care. Nikole Hannah Jones just casually threw out they he and his audience are racists, and no one in media called it out. They don't care. https://t.co/m6mdDd9SNZ

If ever you are asked for an example of “the bigotry of low expectations,” simply point to Nikole Hannah-Jones. There is absolutely no reason that I should know who this person is.

So Nikole 'everyone who disagrees with me is either a racist or an uncle tom' Hannah-Jones, of the imaginary 1619 project, says Joe Rogan is guilty of open racism. The only person guilty of that is her.

I think the Rogan situation is the perfect cherry on top to show that racism, in the Nikole Hannah Jones world, is a word with no meaning. She’s a paper tiger calling everything racist with no evidence, which is why white elites are her only Allie’s.

These lefties are obsessed with everything being racism and holding onto the past with all their might. If their narrative crumbles so does their power. #JimmyKimmelRacist #LiberalismIsAMentalDisorder @hodgetwins

She deletes a lot of tweets but only after the damage is already done.

Showed racism and then thought the delete would change things.

@nhannahjones is complete trash. She is a loser that promotes racism in order to make money. People like her and Ibram Kendi set race relations back in this country and don’t care who it hurts.
