Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ most recent reelection campaign ad has gone viral, trolling Dr. Anthony Fauci and advising him to “pound sand” while marketing flip-flops that are being sold online at the Republican governor’s “Official Ron DeSantis Store.”
“So, to commemorate all the flip-flopping from Dr. Fauci, we’re launching exclusive Freedom Over Fauci Flip Flops, only available on the Team DeSantis storefront. After 600+ days of ineffective lockdowns and mandates, 3 things are certain with Fauci: He flips. He flops. He fails,” the ad copy stated.
The flip-flop merchandise is an homage to Fauci’s ever-shifting stances on the pandemic. The Republican red footwear is emblazoned with “Freedom from Fauci” on the straps and the words “pound sand” on the soles. The clever marketing ploy is a hit and is reportedly raking in campaign funds. DeSantis is said to have over $70 million in cash on hand for re-election,
The promotional flip-flops bring to the forefront Fauci’s contradictory statements on social distancing, masks, vaccines, lockdowns, and school closures. They are just the latest in a line of merchandise from DeSantis’ campaign in recent months that include items that say things such as, “Don’t tread on Florida,” “Never ever back down,” and “Don’t Fauci my Florida.”
We're sending a CLEAR message to the elites that we will never EVER back down with our new merchandise line, exclusively on our storefront.

And there’s more merchandise including T-shirts promoting the “Escape to Florida/The Lockdown Libs tour.” That marketing move gained popularity after Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other Democrats who have pushed strict coronavirus restrictions were caught vacationing in Florida and enjoying the state’s freedoms.

“We don’t blame you … we like freedom, too,” the back of the T-shirt proclaims, underneath a list of Democrats that include the governors of states such as Connecticut, Michigan, and New Jersey and where in Florida they stayed.
“If I had a dollar for every lockdown politician who decided to escape to Florida over the last two years, I’d be a pretty doggone wealthy man, let me tell you,” DeSantis kidded at a press conference. “I mean, Congress people, mayors, governors, I mean you name it.” That statement was included in another viral ad.

“It’s interesting the reception that some of these folks will get in Florida,” the governor said at a press conference, “because I think a lot of Floridians say, ‘Wait a minute you’re bashing us because we’re not doing your draconian policies, and yet we’re the first place you want to flee to, to basically to be able to enjoy life.’”
The Florida governor was already hugely popular among Republican voters nationwide, but the anti-Fauci merchandise endeared him even more to conservatives. He has taken a very strong stance against COVID restrictions and is fearless when confronting the left over the issue including Fauci and President Biden.
“Fauci doesn’t care about doing what’s right or using even basic common sense. He’s too caught up in TV interviews, magazine covers, and the adulation and acceptance from elitists that he’s likely craved his entire life,” DeSantis wrote in an email titled “Permanent Faucism,” according to Florida Politics.
DeSantis is running for a second term as governor in 2022. He’s also a contender in 2024 although it is widely believed the nomination is former President Trump’s for the taking.
Fauci flip-flops are a mega-hit all across the board:
Oh my, this is perfect. I thank God we live in a state with representatives leading by reason and logic instead of the fear and coercion of other state leaders.
