Florida Governor Ron DeSantis got the last word on Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other Democrat hypocrites who revel in bashing the state and then travel south to party and enjoy freedom from the onerous COVID restrictions that they have championed in their own states.
DeSantis skewered the New York congresswoman who melted down after pictures of her having cocktails in Miami Beach while her home district was ravaged by the Omicron variant went viral last week, lashing out by promoting the debunked conspiracy theory that he had gone “missing” when in actuality, he was accompanying his wife Casey who was undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
During a Monday press conference, DeSantis responded to a reporter’s question about the attention-seeking Twitter diva’s maskless partying at a drag bar, “If I had a dollar for every lockdown politician who decided to escape to Florida over the last two years, I’d be a pretty doggone wealthy man, let me tell you.”

“I mean, Congress people, mayors, governors, I mean, you name it and it’s interesting though, the reception that some of these folks will get in Florida,” he said, “because I think a lot of Floridians will say ‘wait a minute, you’re bashing us because we’re not doing your draconian policies, and yet we’re the first place you want to flee to, to basically be able to enjoy life and so I’m not surprised to see that continue to happen.”
“I can tell you, I mean there are probably about a half dozen governors who had restrictions on their people and then were spotted at various points in Florida, some of it’s been public, some of it‘s not been public, but you know people tell me these things and so these things are spotted and that’s just the reality that we’re dealing with, I think I’m happy though that Florida is a place where people know they can come and they can live like normal people,” DeSantis added.
While he did not specifically mention the governors by name, one who was busted living the good life in Florida while her own state was forced to observe punishing restrictions was Michigan lockdown queen Gretchen Whitmer who received criticism after flying south for spring break last year.
Ocasio-Cortez sought to distract from her own blatant hypocrisy when she responded to a tweet from Team DeSantis by falsely claiming that the governor had been “inexplicably missing for like 2 weeks,” a phony narrative by leftist tinfoil hatters that would be blown up when it was revealed that he was at the side of his cancer-stricken spouse.
Hasn’t Gov. DeSantis been inexplicably missing for like 2 weeks?
If he’s around, I would be happy to say hello. His social media team seems to have been posting old photos for weeks.
In the meantime, perhaps I could help with local organizing. Folks are quite receptive here :) https://t.co/LmmqT8eLDh

During the presser, DeSantis also responded to the suggestions that he went “missing” as the spike positive COVID tests were sensationalized by the media.

“I guess I should’ve been at the beach in Delaware, right, and then they woulda been really happy with that.”

“I guess I should have been at the beach in Delaware, right, and then they would have been really happy with that,” a shot at President Joe Biden who cut and run to his vacation home at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware to play with his new dog after he punted responsibility for battling the virus to the states.
The Sunshine State Republican has previously jabbed Dems over their hypocrisy when it comes to Florida.

DeSantis continues to be a thorn in the side for the COVID cultists and remains a strong contender for the White House if former President Donald J. Trump chooses not to run again in 2024.
