House Speaker Nancy Pelosi gave an unhinged rant at an event celebrating Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday claiming that Founding Fathers George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were weeping because the filibuster is blocking the federalization of elections by Democrats.
“It is my honor also to be here with some of the leadership of the House. The leader of the Congressional Black Caucus made for us – working with Eric Holder and, and John Sarbanes and others and Mr. Clyburn to make sure this legislation, the Freedom to Vote Act, was passed,” Pelosi proclaimed at the MLK Day Deliver for Voting Rights Press Conference in D.C. flanked by members of the King family as well as Congressional Black Caucus Chair Joyce Beatty.
“We all want bipartisanship. We all strive for it [and] we have a responsibility to do so. But when we cannot have it, we cannot confine our democracy to what might be bipartisanly possible,” she stated.
“So I ask our colleagues in the Senate respectfully for what they think the filibuster means … to weigh the equities against our democracy,” Pelosi urged.
“Because nothing less is at stake than our democracy. This is about suppressing the vote. It’s about nullifying the elections, which Dr. King talked about that day, nullifying the election. It’s about just doing so many things to be obstacles to participation. That’s wrong. The truth is, that’s wrong. And, this family – and John Lewis, and so beautifully that this bill is named for him. But, the first bill – he wrote the first 300 pages of what is now called the Freedom to Vote,” Pelosi disjointedly remarked.
We earn the right to honor the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr., by our actions now to protect voting rights and defend our democracy. #VotingRightsForMLK pic.twitter.com/LpfPwKFivD

She shamelessly used the event to push for the Democrats’ federal takeover of elections and called the filibuster a “custom.” The so-called “For the People Act” and the “John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act” are stalled in the Senate because two Democratic senators, Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema, refuse to change the filibuster rules so the legislation can pass.
“We must draw the line in the sand of justice for any member not standing with us on voting rights,” stated Beatty, according to The Hill. “They are obstructionists to … America’s promise of freedom and justice. And we must stand against them.”
“It’s just the filibuster in the way. So, in a way, if you really, truly want to honor Dr. King, don’t dishonor him by using a Congressional custom as an excuse for protecting our democracy. We have no right to honor this family, to visit the monument,” Pelosi continued in her speech.
“Imagine, 30 – someone 36 years old, left this earth in such a way that he has a monument on the Mall along with Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson. All of them with tears in their eyes for the departure from our democracy that is happening right now – unless the truth is acknowledged and this legislation is passed,” she asserted.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and President Biden are attempting to nuke the filibuster in order to push the bill through which would, in essence, guarantee that the left would remain in power indefinitely, something the Founding Fathers never intended.
Pelosi’s hyperbole follows President Biden proclaiming in Atlanta, Georiga that if you don’t agree with him on changing the Senate rules on the filibuster and federalizing elections, you are no better than Democrat racists of the past such as Bull Connor, George Wallace, and Jefferson Davis.
Crazy Nancy Pelosi and Jim Crow Joe Biden should keep MLK’s name out of their dirty mouths!

Americans appear to overwhelmingly stand against the federalization of elections with good reason:
Their “convenient memory lapse” that the country is The United States of America and not just America. This is where the Senate should be explaining to them what a middle finger looks like. James Madison probably has tears in his eyes every time she speaks

Elections should be run by the states, not the democrats
— Tommy Bartley (@tommybartley) January 17, 2022
Except the government was set up to limit federal powers. Oh and there is the fact the democrats used the filibuster like 320 times in 2020. But okay.

Wait I thought the founders were bad? Now they invoke them when it suits their political motives?

What about states rights, the federal government was not designed to be as big as it is today.

All those years in government “service” and federalism is still a complete mystery to her

They’ve circled back around to calling anyone who supports the filibuster racist again.
