Governor Mike Dunleavy (R-AK) accepted former President Donald Trump’s terms of endorsement on Thursday, telling him he has nothing to worry about regarding his non-support of RINO Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) who is running for reelection.
“Mike Dunleavy has been a strong and consistent Conservative since his time in the Alaska State Senate. I was proud to endorse his first run for Governor, and I am proud to support his reelection, too,” Trump said in a statement. “From his handling of the virus, support of the Constitution—including the Second and Tenth Amendments—taking advantage of all the opportunities Alaska has to offer, and his strong pushback against the Liberal Biden Administration’s attempt to hurt our great Country.”
Trump offered his conditional endorsement to Dunleavy this week, stating that he “has my Complete and Total Endorsement but, this endorsement is subject to his non-endorsement of Senator Lisa Murkowski who has been very bad for Alaska.”
“In other words, if Mike endorses her, which is his prerogative, my endorsement of him is null and void, and of no further force or effect!” Trump warned.

Thursday night, Trump proceeded to send out a statement commending Dunleavy, roasting Murkowski, and announcing the governor’s acceptance of his terms for endorsement.
“Please tell the President thank you for the endorsement,” Dunleavy allegedly said in a message thanking Trump for all he’s done for Alaska. “With regard to the other issue, please tell the president he has nothing to worry about. I appreciate all 45 has done for Alaska and this country.”
“This is why Mike Dunleavy of Alaska has been, and will be, a great Governor. He has the courage of his convictions. Lisa Murkowski is the ‘disaster from Alaska’ who single-handedly blew ANWR, one of the largest energy sites in the world, and an incredible economic development opportunity for the Great State of Alaska!” Trump noted.

In 2017, Murkowski succeeded in getting ANWR drilling added to a Republican tax bill, before the Biden administration suspended the practice, according to Alaska Public Media.
Trump is seen as a Republican kingmaker and has been on a tear endorsing the opponents of RINOs and those who have stood against him. Especially those who voted to impeach him. Murkowski has repeatedly rebuked Trump’s influence in the Republican Party and he has, in turn, warned her he would stand against her reelection.
Murkowski was one of seven Republicans in February who voted to impeach Trump for his alleged role in the Jan. 6 riot. Trump has endorsed her opponent Kelly Tshibaka, Alaska’s former commissioner of administration. Murkowski is the only one of the seven who stood against Trump who is up for reelection in 2022. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is supporting Murkowski.
Juneau Republicans censured Murkowski for her Trump impeachment vote in March. Party leaders are backing Trump-supported candidate Kelly Tshibaka against her in the GOP primary.
Murkowski defiantly fired back when announcing her intention to run for reelection in November, “In this election, lower 48 outsiders are going to try to grab Alaska’s Senate seat for their partisan agendas. They don’t understand our state and frankly, they couldn’t care less about your future. My commitment to Alaska is the same one I made during my first campaign.”
“I will work with anyone from either party to advance Alaska’s priorities and I will always stand up to any politician or special interest that threatens our way of life,” she declared.

The moderate Senator was appointed to the U.S. Senate in late 2002 by her father, Frank Murkowski, who had just resigned from his Senate seat after being elected governor.
