Masked servants showcase Oprah’s hypocrisy in celebrating Christmas with family

Oprah Winfrey, publicly an arch-apostle of mask mandates and every other Covid-19 restriction under the sun, took to social media to share footage of her decorating her mansion — minus a decoration on her face.

Whether or not masks are effective against Covid-19, Winfrey has not been shy about very publicly advocating for their usage. This made her recent Instagram gallery all the stranger given that she apparently didn’t feel the need to practice what she preached at home alongside numerous servants.

As seen below, the servants seen in the video shared are obviously wearing masks:

The caption in a second Instagram video, presumably from Oprah, made it clear that COVID-19 was fresh on her mind.

“Everyone who is spending Christmas at my house has to be vaccinated, boosted, tested, and quarantined. Stedman calls it “The Policy” cause I’m that serious about it. This was release day for our bubble and we knew we had to throw a welcome celebration for Baby Luca, who none of us had met yet!” the caption read.

The tone-deaf display of hypocrisy caught on like wildfire on social media, with numerous commenters repeating the old saying about “rules for thee, and not for me,” in various forms:

One noted how celebrity hypocrisy is related to the trend of officials flouting the rules they impose on the masses regarding Covid-19 restrictions:

Winfrey herself is seemingly unapologetic, and still has a video posted from November showing her singing her heart out – with a bunch of maskless people:

Of course, Winfrey is certainly in good company when it comes to playing by different rules than the ones she’s been so public about advocating for everyone else.

Representative Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was too important to be bothered with her home district’s crackdown on the maskless, prompting one commenter to ask whether any prominent Democrats obey their own rules. The answer seems to be “no,” and the example is set at the very top, with President Joe Biden, who once lectured the entire country about losing patience with people bucking the mandate he tried to impose, and now walks around maskless until its time for the photo ops.

Regardless of the example being set by her fellow Democrats, at the time of writing Winfrey hasn’t even bothered to acknowledge the controversy, let alone apologize or pledge to conform to the rules she herself has preached so strongly.
