It’s not hard to understand why conservatives are so tired of the pandemic and all of the crap that has come with it, but Dr. Francis Collins, outgoing National Institutes of Health Director, is his own reason to cringe.
In a desperate attempt to get people to comply with arguably over-reaching COVID mandates and guidelines in order to get past COVID, Dr. Collins picked up his guitar and sang a rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” that will leave tears in your eyes.
Not because it’s beautiful, or heart-warming, or reminiscent of days past, but because watching a doctor literally sing the praises of bureaucrats who have made the average Joe’s life hell for the past two years is rage-inducing.
“This is really a song for you, for all of us who have been going through this pandemic and trying to imagine how’s it going to feel when we’re finally past that. What will that be like? We’re going to get there and you’re going to help us get there,” Collins introduced his song, as if nobody has memories before 2020.

Some of the lyrics include:
Somewhere past the pandemic when we’re free
There’s a life I remember full of activity
Somewhere past the pandemic masks will come off.
No more need for a nose swab every time we cough
And of course, there’s plenty of love for those who represent “the science”:
Somewhere past the pandemic life will resume.
We’ll all complain about the traffic, forgetting how we hated Zoom
Somewhere past the pandemic we’ll hug our friends
And thank the people in science that brought pandemic’s end
One would be excused for believing this was a propaganda video commissioned to sell vaccines and the dream of a world where politicians finally ease their iron grip on Americans:
Has anyone watched this whole video? It’s impossible, I lasted about 7 seconds

If you send this back in time to someone from 50 years ago, they would have thought the Soviets won the cold war.
