Tweets from President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and other Democrats who supported convicted “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett after he was charged with staging a hate crime and lying to police are aging horrifically and coming back to haunt them.

Smollett was convicted on five out of six charges for his 2019 hoax on Thursday. Many wondered after he was found guilty if apologies from prominent political figures would be forthcoming. They will, no doubt, wait an eternity for those mea culpas.

“What happened today to @JussieSmollett must never be tolerated in this country,” President Biden proclaimed in January 2019. “We must stand up and demand that we no longer give this hate safe harbor; that homophobia and racism have no place on our streets or in our hearts. We are with you, Jussie.”

“.@JussieSmollett is one of the kindest, most gentle human beings I know. I’m praying for his quick recovery. This was an attempted modern day lynching. No one should have to fear for their life because of their sexuality or color of their skin. We must confront this hate,” Harris tweeted in defense of Smollett at the time.

After a dramatic week of testimony, Smollett fighting with attorneys, counsel arguments, and deliberation by the jury, Smollett was found guilty on five counts, He was acquitted on a sixth charge of lying to a detective weeks after he claimed he was jumped by Trump supporters in a hate crime. He was found guilty on five counts of disorderly conduct.

Special Prosecutor Dan Webb called the verdict “a resounding message by the jury that Mr. Smollett did exactly what we said he did.”

Smollett “wreaked havoc here in the city for weeks on end for no reason whatsoever” and then compounded the problem by lying under oath to the jury, Webb commented.

The actor could face up to 3 years in prison but is likely to get probation and community service instead.

While the tweets from Biden and Harris are among the worst, they were far from alone.

Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) tweeted, “The vicious attack on actor Jussie Smollett was an attempted modern-day lynching. I’m glad he’s safe. To those in Congress who don’t feel the urgency to pass our Anti-Lynching bill designating lynching as a federal hate crime– I urge you to pay attention.”

Notorious race-baiter Reverend Al Sharpton declared at the time, “The reported hate attack on my friend and brother, actor Jussie Smollett is despicable and outrageous. The guilty must face the maximum.”

“Let’s call it what it is: A vicious hate crime,” former DNC Chair Tom Perez wrote. “My heart goes out to Jussie’s family — all of us at the DNC are praying for his full recovery.”

Biden Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg also spoke up defending the actor, “While the struggle for basic hate crime legislation continues here in Indiana, this horrible attack calls all Americans to stand against hatred and violence in all its forms.”

“What happened to Jussie Smollett is vile and tragic; thankfully, he will recover,” Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) also tweeted in 2019. “But hate crimes like this are happening more frequently, egged on by careless hate-filled rhetoric. We start reducing these crimes by rejecting the speech – neither can ever be accepted as normal.”

More Democrats lined up in defense of the disgraced actor including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), and Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot. Celebrities piled on too including Reese Witherspoon and Ariana Grande.

While the left was distraught over the verdict, conservatives celebrated and mocked Democrats while they were at it:
