Kyle Rittenhouse, the teen who fatally shot two protestors and injured a third during a tense night of rioting in Kenosha, Wisconsin, has been declared not guilty.
Rittenhouse faced five felony charges stemming from the shooting, including first-degree reckless homicide, two charges of first-degree recklessly endangering safety, first-degree intentional homicide, and attempted first-degree intentional homicide. Anthony Huber and Joseph Rosenbaum were killed the night of the shooting and a third man, Gaige Grosskreutz, was shot in the bicep but survived.
Before the jury was sent to deliberation, Judge Bruce Schroeder dismissed a curfew citation charge against Rittenhouse as he agreed that the prosecution had not provided sufficient evidence to prove a curfew had actually been in place.

In early November, Judge Schroeder announced that the jury had been filmed while loading onto a bus in the morning. While deputies allegedly made the person filming delete the video but it is not clear whether the person involved was arrested.
“Something like that should not have occurred, I’m frankly, quite surprised it did,” Judge Schroeder said of the incident.
At one point during the trial, Grosskreutz took the stand to testify about his recollection from the night. During cross-examination, Rittenhouse’s lawyer, Corey Chirafisi, questioned Grosskreutz about the sequence of events that led up to the shooting that injured his arm. During the questioning, Grosskreutz admitted that Rittenhouse didn’t fire until he raised his own gun.
“It wasn’t until you pointed your gun at him, advanced on him, with your gun pointed down at him, that he fired, right?” Chirafisi queried.
“Correct,” Grosskreutz responded.

The trial has captured the attention of a highly-polarized nation and needless to say, the political fallout was sure to follow.
Like clockwork, trending tags like ‘White privilege and ‘no justice no peace’ took off on Twitter:

So as long as you're white you can shoot anybody and get away with it. Yet, if you're a POC and don't even possess a weapon you can be murdered and they'll get away with that as well.
That's America for you. #WhitePrivilege #KyleRittennhouse— BluePatriot💙✊ (@jessilyn_b) November 19, 2021

Any fair-minded person who watched the trial and the video evidence could clearly see that Rittenhouse was the one who was ‘hunted down.’ As the jury determined, the teen used his weapon in self-defense when he shot and killed two attackers and injured a third — all of them career criminals.
On the more level-headed side of the scenario ‘God Bless Kyle’ also trended:
