A northern California school district announced on Wednesday it will not comply with Gov. Gavin Newsom’s pending COVID-19 vaccine mandate for children.

In a 5-0 vote, the Calaveras Unified School District Board of Trustees declared it will “not ‘support, enforce or comply with’” the edict, FOX40 reported.

The vote was cast and decided on Tuesday and applies to both faculty and students. The CUSD has said it plans to have discussions on alternative masking and testing protocols in an upcoming meeting on Nov. 23.

The district had previously stated that it was aware of possible repercussions in terms of funding and punitive “formal actions.” Their decision to not comply comes on the heels of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) arguably rushed approval of at least one version of the vaccine for children ages 5-11.

Doctors at Sutter Health insist the best way to keep kids healthy and in school is to get them vaccinated.

“Up until the last week of October, 24% of our weekly rates in the U.S. were children. So vaccination is the way to go to keep our communities safe and our schools open,” said Dr. Judith Valero, with Sutter Health, according to Fox40. “And currently, even our school guidelines have that if a vaccinated child is exposed at school, they may still be at school. So it is a way to keep children in school.”

Newsom – America’s Patrick Bateman doppelganger – has received a few healthy doses of resistance from his constituents vis-a-vis his COVID-related decrees in the state. Thousands of Californians took to the streets in October to protest his statewide vaccine mandate for schools that was pending FDA approval at the time.

As BPR reported at the time: “Demonstrations took place across the state with the largest being in Sacramento where peaceful protesters descended on the capitol, many of them carrying signs with slogans including ‘My Body, My Choice,’ ‘Our Kids Are Not Labrats’ and ‘Let’s Go Brandon’ seeking to make their voices heard in opposition of Newsom’s authoritarianism.”

As is the nature of many politicians, the rules are for us and not for them, for it surfaced at the time of his proclamation that Newsom had not vaccinated his own 12-year-old daughter.

He also took a considerable amount of heat when his mandate was first announced, in that while students would be forced to vaccinate, teachers and staff had the option to test for COVID weekly instead.

Most recently, Newsom pulled a Kim Jong-un and disappeared from public view for more than 10 days, skipping his expected trip to the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow, Scotland – or Edinburgh, as the case may be in Wolf Blitzer’s geography. The governor reemerged on Saturdary to attend the wedding of Getty oil heiress, Ivy Love Getty, in San Francisco.
