Fox News host Rachel Campos-Duffy and her husband, former Wisconsin congressman Sean Duffy joked on Monday’s episode of “Fox News Primetime” about actress Bette Midler’s unsolicited advice for all women in response to the new law surrounding abortion in Texas– withhold sex.
The actress tweeted last Thursday, “I suggest that all women refuse to have sex with men until they are guaranteed the right to choose by Congress.”
Campos-Duffy asked her husband for his take on Midler’s sex-strike advice.
“The less lefty pregnancies means the less lefty kids, right?” Duffy joked.

“We’re already out-producing left Democrats anyway on the children front,” Campos-Duffy replied.
“Absolutely. But I also think that if the strike only applies to Bette Midler, I don’t think there’s any man in Texas who’s gonna disagree with this ban. They’re like, ‘Of course we’ll take that ban every day of the week.’ No one’s lining up for Bette,” the former Congressman said.
Campos-Duffy then asked her husband if Democrat women were lining up for this ban.

“I don’t think so in Texas, but you never know. Listen, I hope not,” Duffy responded.
The Texas legislation that Midler suggests protesting bans abortion after six weeks of pregnancy and allows private citizens, in and out of Texas, to sue abortion clinics or individuals who help women receive abortions after six weeks of gestation.
Twitter users fell across the board on the issue, tweeting their thoughts in response to the actress’ suggestion.
“If all women who would abort their babies refused to have sex if they weren’t willing to take the responsibility of a baby… That’s literally how it’s supposed to work,” One America News host, Liz Wheeler tweeted.
“[B]ut then again men with angry Guns and rape not being a much of a crime in Texas .watch this space,” fellow actress Rosanna Arquette tweeted in response to Midler.
“I got pregnant w/my daughter while on the pill, using condoms and my husband was supposed to be sterile from cancer treatment. I still got pregnant. I had family support and loving partner. Not everyone has that. Some are raped…as children…by their uncles,” one user wrote, sharing her story.
Notably, the bill makes exceptions for medical emergencies but not in cases of rape or incest.
“That’s rich Bette you are calling for something that would actually eliminate the need for abortion and is very pro-life position. Do you see the irony of it?” another user wrote.
The actress is no stranger to controversial tweets, rarely holding back her thoughts on the platform:
“I DO NOT promote violence but… Rand Paul says the Kurds are being ‘ingrates’ for taking their frustrations out on US troops. Which is a good reminder for us all to be more grateful for the neighbor who beat the shit out of Rand Paul,” Midler once wrote in a since-deleted tweet.
“Look, there are African American men in this shot! How much did he pay them to be ‘blackground?’” Midler once tweeted, then deleted, about attendees at a Trump rally.

That #Donald won’t be such a Dope
So I get on my knees

Everyone loathes Donald Trump,
Including the Ladies he Humps.
I predict you will see,
He’ll begin World War III,

Democrats are particularly outraged by the Texas legislation and many Democratic lawmakers are reportedly plotting to undermine the Supreme Court’s deliberation over the constitutionality of the bill with legislation and investigations.
