It seems that when Jake Tapper takes to Twitter to share a deep thought, he often makes a fool of himself.
The self-unaware (is there any other kind?) CNN anchor did it again in attempting to express something profound apparently in the context of the new-host search for the popular quiz show Jeopardy.
As you probably are aware, the Jeopardy executive producer, Mike Richards, the man in charge of screening the possible successors to the beloved Alex Trebek who tragically passed away in November 2020 from pancreatic cancer, did a Dick Cheney and instead gave himself the emcee position.
After some politically incorrect baggage that generated headlines emerged, Richards found himself out of both jobs.
Tapper evidently thought he was being sophisticated by tweeting that “We have higher standards for game show hosts than for Members of Congress, definitely a sign of a healthy society with its priorities in order.”

Parenthetically, Tapper’s so-called inside information earlier this year about the “simple facts” behind Major League Baseball’s decision to pull the All-Star Game from the Atlanta area over the voting reform law turned out to hardly be a home when it was brought to his attention on social media that CNN is headquartered in Atlanta.

Tapper’s online attempt to mediate the standoff between the New York Post and Twitter when the latter suppressed the Hunter Biden laptop story also fell flat.
“Critics were quick to point out Tapper’s own network and the standards they have for their employees caught in recent scandals,” Fox News noted about the news anchor’s Tuesday tweet.
This includes ultra-liberal mask-shamer Chris Cuomo and his history, among other things, of COVID-related grandstanding along with unethically helping his brother, the ex-New York governor, navigate scandals on the sly, as well as “hands-on” CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin.
Toobin is separately getting clowned on social media for fear-mongering over a Texas abortion law that the U.S. Supreme Court has upheld.
Once more with feeling, a married Toobin impregnated a colleague’s daughter, tried to pressure her into an abortion, and had to be dragged into court to pay child support. I’d ask “have you no shame?” for weighing in on this topic constantly, but we know the answer. https://t.co/r7CR4p6EXV

A quick reminder that Jeffrey Toobin impregnated his daughter's friend, offered her money to have an abortion, didn't want his name on the birth certificate AND wouldn't pay child support. https://t.co/onM2GCFbBa

Democrats
– OK to kill a baby
– Not OK to refuse a vaccine
Explain this to me, using science.

Some Twitter users recalled that ex-President Donald Trump was a game show host in his role on NBC’s The Apprentice and The Celebrity Apprentice reality shows.
They actually may be inadvertently making Tapper’s point, which is ironic since Tapper is no fan of POTUS 45 or the MAGA movement.
President Trump unforgettably, of course, branded the TV journalist’s network as very fake news.
In any event, Tapper’s wisdom has prompted widespread ridicule from the left and the right with suggestions that Tapper needs to get his own house in order. Here is a sampling:
Well, we also have higher standards for sanitation workers than we do television journalists in this country. Maybe think about cleaning up your own house before you bash someone else.

Jake Tapper: yeah we brought back the happy ending guy and we at CNN hire relatives of prominent Democratic party members like Andrew Cuomo .

Higher standards for managers at Dollar General than hosts for CNN as well, just a sad state of affairs.

It’s a problem people like you helped create, Jake, who are dismissive to the concerns of people who are socioeconomically disadvantaged but are willing to help out affluent people who lack qualifications and talent.

And yet your network gives them airtime
Sit down Jake

CNN is a propaganda tool for the Democrat party and this guy wants to lecture on standards. 😂

Listen, I don’t get a say in most who’s in congress. Hell, being blue in a red state, I don’t even have a say in my own. But I watch Jeopardy every day, and I have a say in that. So shush & instead pay attention to the diminishing quality of your own show/network.
