President Joe Biden’s stunning capitulation to the Taliban has some Americans wishing for a president who wouldn’t be afraid to put the terrorist group in their place.
A president like, say, former President Donald Trump, a man who had no compunction about posting “mean tweets” to put enemies, both domestic and abroad, in their place.
Take what then-President Trump tweeted on Jul. 22nd, 2018, after then-Iranian President Hassan Rouhani had threatened him over some proposed sanctions.
“Mr. Trump, don’t play with the lion’s tail, this would only lead to regret. America should know that peace with Iran is the mother of all peace, and war with Iran is the mother of all wars. You are not in a position to incite the Iranian nation against Iran’s security and interests,” Rouhani had tweeted at the time.
In response, Trump threatened to turn Iran into a giant ashtray.
“To Iranian President Rouhani: NEVER, EVER THREATEN THE UNITED STATES AGAIN OR YOU WILL SUFFER CONSEQUENCES THE LIKES OF WHICH FEW THROUGHOUT HISTORY HAVE EVER SUFFERED BEFORE. WE ARE NO LONGER A COUNTRY THAT WILL STAND FOR YOUR DEMENTED WORDS OF VIOLENCE & DEATH. BE CAUTIOUS!” he wrote.
Here’s a reminder of what that since-removed tweet looked like, courtesy Trump era National Intelligence Director Richard Grenell:

Remember, the former president was permanently banned from Twitter in January. Rouhani, the Taliban, Antifa, and other terrorists still remain on the platform.
Grenell’s reminder comes as the current president has capitulated to the demands of the Taliban and agreed to remove all U.S. troops from Afghanistan by Aug. 31st, even if that means abandoning tens of thousands of Afghan allies — and some Americans as well.
Multiple Democrat lawmakers, even the notorious Rep. Adam Schiff, have warned that this deadline doesn’t give the administration enough time to complete evacuations.
“Given the number of Americans who still need to be evacuated, the number of SIVs, the number of others who are members of the Afghan press, civil society leaders, women leaders . . . it’s hard for me to imagine all of that can be accomplished between now and the end of the month,” Schiff said to reporters Monday, following the conclusion of a classified intelligence briefing.
NEW: House Intel Chair Adam Schiff just left a classified intel briefing on Afghanistan and broke a significant amount of news. Here are some of the highlights.

“We have a moral obligation to ensure that we get American citizens out and our Afghan partners out. There are more of those folks in the country, in Afghanistan, right now than we have the capability to evacuate between now and the end of the month,” Colorado Rep. Jason Crow, another Democrat, told reporters Tuesday.
“That’s why the mission must be extended, and we have to do what’s necessary to get people out, and it doesn’t have to do with a date on the calendar,” he added.
Listen:
Part of the problem is that the administration needs a couple of days just to perform the withdrawal itself, meaning that the evacuation deadline is even earlier.
“[T]he US military is believed to need two to three days to close down its operations at Kabul airport,” according to The Guardian.
As a result, the U.K. has already had to begin its own withdrawal, despite its desire to remain in Afghanistan to save its allies.
“Britain’s evacuation from Kabul is expected to end within ’24 to 36 hours’, potentially abandoning thousands of Afghans,” The Guardian reported Tuesday.
It added that Biden “rejected pleas from the UK for the humanitarian airlift to continue beyond 31 August at a virtual meeting of G7 leaders.”
A virtual meeting that the president and his administration have been falsely claiming was a success.

All this could be averted if the president would just hold firm against the demands of the Taliban — and, even better, warn the Taliban that THEY will face “consequences” if THEY interfere in the evacuation effort.
Yet for reasons beyond understanding, the president refuses to be “mean” toward the Taliban, preferring instead to aim the inherent meanness within him at the one man who does boast the courage to stand up to terrorists.
But hey, at least the world doesn’t have to deal with Trump’s “mean tweets” anymore.

Sorry you’re stuck in Talibanstan, but at least you can sleep tonight without fearing tomorrow morning’s mean tweets.
