United Kingdom Member of Parliament Tom Tugendhat angrily slammed President Biden for placing the blame on Afghan forces by accusing them of giving up as the Taliban brutally seized power in their country.
“To see their Commander-in-Chief [United States President Joe Biden] call into question the courage of men I fought with, to claim that they ran. It’s shameful,” Tugendhat emotionally declared on Wednesday during a session of the House of Commons.
“Those who have never fought for the colors they fly should be careful about criticizing those who have,” he pointedly asserted.
Tugendhat posited that it is not armies that win wars. “It is nations that make war. Nations endure,” he proclaimed. “Nations mobilize and muster, nations determine and have patience.”

“I leave the house with one image. In the year that I was privileged to be the adviser to the governor of Helmand, we opened girls’ schools. The joy it gave parents to see their little girls going to school was extraordinary … The second image is one that the forever war that has just reignited could lead to. It is the image of a man whose name I never knew, carrying a child who had died hours earlier into our firebase and begging for help. There was nothing we could do. It was over,” he sadly commented.
“That is what defeat looks like; it is when you no longer have the choice of how to help. This does not need to be defeat, but at the moment it damn well feels like it,” Tugendhat furiously and righteously concluded.
On Monday, President Biden intimated that the Afghan forces, who fought alongside the U.S. and its allies, were cowards who turned tail and ran. That they surrendered quickly and did not fight back. He insinuated that they were to blame for the Taliban’s toppling of the country in short order as American troops were withdrawn. Biden used that assertion as a justification for his withdrawal of troops. However, his disastrous foreign policy move came before the Afghan forces had to surrender, many of whom were executed after doing so.
“Here’s what I believe to my core,” Biden claimed. “It is wrong to order American troops to step up when Afghanistan’s own armed forces would not.” He then disingenuously asserted that U.S. forces bore “the brunt of the fighting” for the Afghans, even though Afghans had far more casualties and losses than the Americans did.
Former President Trump and numerous others have publicly called for Biden’s resignation over his Afghanistan debacle.
“It is time for Joe Biden to resign in disgrace for what he has allowed to happen to Afghanistan,” Trump asserted in a statement, “along with the tremendous surge in COVID, the Border catastrophe, the destruction of our energy independence, and our crippled economy. It shouldn’t be a big deal, because he wasn’t elected legitimately in the first place!”
