Ric Grenell takes on angry left as voter integrity effort moves forward in California: ‘See you in court’

Former U.S. Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell revealed on social media Thursday he’s meeting resistance from the Democratic left in California as his effort to clean up county voter registration rolls continues.

In one post to Twitter, Grenell, who served a stint as acting director of national intelligence during then-President Donald Trump’s term and is now working with a voter integrity effort in the Golden State, wrote that he’s “officially notified the top 26 Counties in California” to “clean up” their registration rolls “or we’ll see you in court.”

In response to that post, left-wing activist Anthony Jones replied with a legal threat while also claiming that efforts to ensure voter registration rolls are up-to-date are “racist.”

“LOL. Bring it on. Individual voters will cross and counter sue everyone involved, go after bar licenses, and financially bankrupt the entire racist effort. Die on this hill trying to make daddy Trump proud. You’ll be exposed,” he wrote.

Grenell responded: “Democrat threatens me to stop trying to clean up voter rolls. They literally want out of date and old rolls filled with ineligible voters. This is why they don’t want people showing IDs.”

Last week, Grenell said on the sidelines of the Conservative Political Action Conference in Dallas that he plans to file Freedom of Information Act requests through the voter integrity group Fix Calfornia, the beginning of what he predicted will be a years-long effort to clean up voter rolls around a state that, by law, is required to send mail-in ballots to every person on registration lists, even if they’re no longer alive or living in the same jurisdiction.

“What we’ve got to be able to do is let people know that their vote matters, that every vote counts, and we’ve got to get them more engaged,” he told Fox News.

“What we saw in this last election was really frightening,” Grenell added. “It’s one of the problems that we have is that the Democrat liberal-left groups that run California have all demanded that people get a ballot regardless of whether or not they’re still in the state.

“So the county voter registration offices are literally taking old voting rolls and sending ballots to every single person that’s still on the voting rolls,” he noted further.

In 2019, conservative legal watchdog organization Judicial Watch won a legal battle with California forcing 1.5 million people to be removed from registration lists after some counties listed more people on registration rolls than were living in their jurisdictions.

“Los Angeles County has a registration rate of 112 percent of its adult citizen population,” the organization said in a statement after a settlement was reached. “The entire State of California has a registration rate of about 101 percent of its age-eligible citizenry.”

“The new settlement agreement, filed today with U.S. District Court Judge Manuel L. Real, requires all of the 1.5 million potentially ineligible registrants to be notified and asked to respond,” Judicial Watch added. “If there is no response, those names are to be removed as required by the NVRA.”

Grenell’s push comes amid reports that a group analyzing ballot images in Fulton County, Ga., said it has discovered major discrepancies between official vote tallies and actual ballots, including major redundancies of ballots.

The newly uncovered evidence of apparent fraud led Georgia GOP gubernatorial candidate Vernon Jones, who once served as a Democratic state lawmaker, to call on Gov. Brian Kemp and Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to resign.

“Today, in addition to @BrianKempGA resignation, I am calling for an IMMEDIATE [Georgia Bureau of Investigation] investigation into reports of duplicate ballot counts and thousands of missing chain of custody documents. Our Governor had a DUTY to do his due diligence before certifying our election. He FAILED,” Jones wrote on Twitter Wednesday.
