Texas official asks Greg Abbott why he didn’t plan for Biden’s open border the minute Joe won

Texas Governor Greg Abbott is under fire by the head of the state’s Department of Agriculture for not doing nearly enough to secure the border and stave off the surge of illegal immigration.

Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller spoke with Fox News host Tucker Carlson Tuesday about the GOP governor’s handling of the border situation in the state, emphasizing he is supportive of Abbott but unhappy with the lack of progress or even a “plan” to combat the migrant influx.

In the aftermath of the criminal storming of the Capitol building, which supposedly left Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in therapy, the Capitol employees took immediate action and built a wall around their workplace. This is a program that seems not to download in the mind of Abbott, whose response to his state’s lack of border security could perhaps best be described as tepid.

Miller stated that after Abbott’s seven years as Governor of Texas, he is glad to see that he is “finally doing something”.

Despite suspicions that Abbott might be simply engaging in “political theater,” Miller added that he still hasn’t delivered a plan.

“We need to know, where does the wall need to be built? How much of it needs to be built? What’s it going to cost? And how do we pay for it?” Miller contended. “Those are four basic questions that haven’t been answered.”

Miller then brought up the issue of the governor’s timeline. Despite recently promising to build a border wall, even without the backing of Vice President Kamala Harris, a plan has yet to be presented to the people of Texas.

“We knew that it was going to be open borders and the welcome mat was going to be out,” he said, citing January 20th when President Joe Biden was sworn in and the weeks after the 2020 election.

“Six months ago, that’s when we should have been doing something down on the border. We should have rolled out the razor wire where the wall hadn’t been built, we should have contracted our high surveillance aircraft, we should have gotten our own drones up in the air so we could see where the surge was coming,” he continued.

Abbott concluded that “once the surge is here, it’s too late, but we could have been down there on the border when that surge got here and say… “you’re not coming into Texas.'”

Commenting on the presence of the National Guard in Texas, Carlson then asked Miller, “what is preventing Governor Abbott, who I think wants to be re-elected, hard to imagine, but I think he does. Why isn’t he sending them tonight?”

“I think he’s the only one who can answer that question, honestly. I don’t know why he doesn’t and I don’t have that answer,” Miller responded.

Miller did take heart at the end by commenting cheerfully that he is “glad to see President Trump coming back to Texas.”

“He is welcome here. He will be well-received in those border communities down there. They love him down there,” Miller closed, adding, “welcome back, Mr. President. We’re glad to have you back.”
