According to Ma’Khia Bryant’s foster mother, the teen fought with two other former foster children over an unmade bed and housekeeping before being fatally shot by a police officer while trying to stab one of them.
Angela Moore gave an interview to CNN and told the media outlet that two of her former foster children visited her home on Tuesday to celebrate her birthday when Bryant got into a fight with them over cleaning the house.
“It was over keeping the house clean. The older one told them to clean up the house because ‘Mom doesn’t like the house dirty,’” Moore said.
“So that’s how it all started,” she claimed.

Bodycam footage provided by the police shows Bryant lunging at another teenager with a knife before being fatally shot by Officer Nicholas Reardon. Other footage provided by a neighbor captured the same altercation from a different vantage point. Bryant was yelling, “I’m gonna stab the f*ck out of you!”
Reardon has been placed on paid leave until an investigation can be done concerning the incident.
Moore said that the girls “argue all the time,” but she “never thought it would escalate like that.”
She said she was informed that Ma’Khia had told the older girl: “You’re not the guardian of me.”
The girl in pink that Bryant allegedly tried to stab is one of those former foster children. She panicked and called Moore: “‘Mom, get home! Where are you? They’re going crazy!’” Moore went on to elaborate: “She said they shot Ma’Kiah and I said, ‘Huh?’ It was just crazy.”
Moore sadly recounted that she began to pray for Bryant and then started getting text messages telling her, “I’m sorry.” When she arrived back home the police told her that Bryant had died.
“She was fun. She liked to dance. She did chores around the house,” Moore recalled. “I never in my worst nightmare would have thought it would ever come to this.”
Ma’Khia’s birth mother Paula Bryant is comparing herself to the mother of Breonna Taylor, saying, “I’ve always had sympathy for the Breonna Taylor story, and the family and her friends and her situation – and now I know what it feels like to lose a child.”
CNN’s Chris Cuomo asked Bryant what her daughter would want, and she declared: “The killing must stop.”

She also described her late daughter as “peaceful and loving” and claimed Bryant was a Christian.
“I’m a single mother of five kids and, you know, now Ma’Khia is gone and I only have four kids,” she continued.
She emotionally stated: “That is so hard for me to say.'”
Ma’Khia Bryant had been living at the foster home for five months. Since November there have been seven 911 calls to that home. Both Bryant and her sister lived in the home and were reportedly having trouble adjusting. The sister had previously told police that if she didn’t get to leave the home she would kill someone there.
Donavon Brinson, who is a military veteran and the neighbor who provided the second video, said his home security camera definitively proves the officer had no choice but to shoot the teenager because others could have been killed. He also said, “the video doesn’t lie.”
“He could have either not fired and the young lady in pink could have been stabbed in the neck and brutally or fatally injured and then he could have shot [Bryant] and we could have had two [young women] dead – or he could have responded in the way that he did and one young lady lost her life,” he posited.
Another neighbor also said he believes the video shows Bryant was in “full attack mode” and “needed to be stopped” because a “young lady’s life was at stake.”
