Chicken Express employee dives out window in drive-thru throwdown over discount

A video has gone viral showing a man driving up to a Chicken Express drive-thru trying to redeem a discount ticket when an employee lunged through the window and assaulted him in his car.

The driver is now suing the restaurant over the dispute. The altercation was caught on video and it appears that there is more to the story than what the video shows. There is no audio so it is not known what the driver may have said that led up to the attack. Although verbal abuse does not justify assault, context is needed to clarify the incident. A female employee who attempted to stop the confrontation was also apparently hit in the face by the driver.

The fast-food restaurant is located in Red Oak, which is a suburb of Dallas, Texas and the assault took place on March 20 according to security footage that recorded the event.

The customer’s name is Leskel Nichols. Speaking through his attorney, he stated that he received a wrong order from Chicken Express when he went there on March 10. He complained to an employee named Chester Harris, who told him at the time he could get 50% off his next order, according to the Daily Post USA. That proved to be extremely problematic.

When Nichols returned on March 20 and tried to redeem the discount and get a replacement order, an employee named Christina Johnson refused to honor the discount even when she was presented with a receipt.

Shortly after that, another employee named Terry Hall started discussing the matter with Nichols before “propelling himself through the take-out window,” according to Hall’s attorneys. Nichols is being represented by Shaun Hodge of the Hodge Law Firm and co-counsel Larry Taylor of the Johnny Cochran Law Firm. A police report was filed on April 1.

Nichols and Hall can be seen in the video trading punches through the driver’s window after Hall jumped out the pick-up window, hit the car, and then proceeded to confront the customer. At that point, as the female employee tried to intervene, she got punched in the face and then started making a call from her phone… allegedly to the police.

The victim’s attorneys are claiming Nichols was seriously injured and his car was damaged in the assault. He reportedly sustained multiple injuries. Nichols said that he had to have surgery on his right finger because of the confrontation.

The incident was very brief and Nichols and Hall can be seen in the video footage trading barbs even after the hitting stopped.

Chicken Express has allegedly not reprimanded the employee or contacted Nichols over the altercation. At this point in time, it is not known exactly who provoked the fight.

A civil lawsuit is now pending and with video evidence such as this, the employees will have a lot of explaining to do. So will the driver.
