Hateful celebs, not Obama staff, hid mean notes in WH for Trump team, Dave Chappelle reveals: ‘I saw them’

Comedian Dave Chappelle spilled the beans over who left “dirty notes” for Trump staffers in the White House when the former president took office in 2017. He claims it was celebrities and not Obama aides that did the deed.

Hateful messages such as “you aren’t going to make it” and “you will fail” were reportedly left in a number of offices, stuffed into drawers and cabinets at the time. Former President Obama’s books were also left in strategic places and a bottle of vodka was left in a cabinet as well. When it happened, the left and the media cast doubt on whether it occurred at all. Obama’s aides steadfastly denied doing it.

Chappelle appeared on Naomi Campbell’s “No Filter” YouTube series Tuesday and laughed over the revelation. He is a longtime friend of Barack Obama’s. The messages were evidently meant as a prank by celebrities to show their dislike of Trump and were left during a final party thrown by Obama.

“It was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen – this was one of the last big parties the Obamas threw. And I’m not going to say these celebrities’ names. …Remember when the Trump administration moved in, they said the Obama staff left dirty notes for us in all the drawers and all the cabinets?” Chappelle asked smiling. “I saw this happening,” he claimed. “I’m not going to say who did it, but it was celebrities, writing all this crazy s–t and putting them all over there. I saw them doing it, so when I saw it on the news, I laughed real hard.”

A former Trump aide said, “Yeah, there were mean notes left in odd places. One in a deputy press secretary’s office, one inside a desk drawer in upper press, another on a bathroom mirror. They were all about how we were doomed to failure.”

The accusations went unanswered. Toward the end of 2019, former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham made allegations that the Obama administration had left the juvenile notes in different areas of the White House so that the new administration would find them as they took office.

“We came into the White House. I’ll tell you something, every office was filled with Obama books and we had notes left behind that said ‘you will fail,’ ‘you aren’t going to make it,” Grisham declared. Some in Obama’s camp called for her to be fired after she made those statements.

When the incident occurred, a speechwriter for Obama named Cody Keenan tweeted that he had left an iPhone charger behind, but “nobody left unimaginative notes written at a sixth-grade level.” It appears they did, but it was the Hollywood crowd that was guilty of the nasty messages.

Keenan then viciously stated, “I mean, if they read the ‘how to do your job’ memos and briefing books we actually left, they’d at least know how to write a coherent speech, vet their appointees, and maybe fewer of them would be indicted or heading to jail.”

Former Obama national security adviser Susan Rice called the allegations a “bald-faced lie.”

Other aides such as Valerie Jarrett and speechwriter Jon Favreau also denied leaving the notes. Joanna Rosholm tweeted out that the note she left read: “Welcome to the small family of White House staffers, past and present.”

“At the time, we saw it as kind of a prank and something that always happened. We were so busy trying to learn where the bathrooms were and how to turn on the lights, it wasn’t that big of a deal,” Grisham noted.
