‘Full of Bull!’ Meghan Markle’s Oprah talk of suicide and Royal racism met with mixed reviews

Meghan Markle’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey was watched by millions of Americans as she painted herself as a victim of the Royal Family, saying she was suicidal and that they were openly racist toward her.

Not everyone is buying into Markle’s tale of woe to Winfrey. Maureen Callahan over at The New York Post flatly stated that the royal couple’s interview with Oprah Winfrey was “full of bull.”

In the heavily-produced, reportedly $7 million dollar tell-all, Markle sought pity as she spoke of her pregnancy and her consideration of suicide because “The Firm” would not give her the mental health help she asked for. The interview was caustic and probably irreparably divided Prince Harry from his family. Harry has been cut off financially since 2020 and, for a time, his father Prince Charles would reportedly not even speak to him.

“I wasn’t planning to say anything shocking!” Markle stated to Winfrey. But the highly-publicized, gossip-spreading endeavor seemed to say otherwise to viewers.

As reports swirl that Markle viciously bullied her royal staff, she shifted the drama to gain empathy from American’s for her so-called plight.

Markle claimed that she knew nothing of the Royal Family before becoming involved with Harry. She was a famous actress and then just suddenly found herself swept into royal life. She claimed to have not been influenced by fame, wealth, and titles as well.

“All the grandeur attached to this stuff,” Meghan stated, allegedly meant nothing to her at all. However, when she married Harry, she made sure to invite Winfrey and actor George Clooney to her wedding, even though she did not know either one of them at the time. That is where she allegedly started a friendship with Winfrey.

In yet another scandal not addressed by Markle, the Palace was reportedly mortified that she received and wore “blood diamonds” from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman after the brutal murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi. That was not covered in the interview, but seems pertinent to her attraction to wealth and fame.

In remarks that strained credulity, Markle also claimed that she knew absolutely nothing about Prince Harry when they began dating. She stated she didn’t care about media coverage even though she did a spread for Vanity Fair before the couple was even engaged.

Markle then delved into what she called “the turning point.” Perhaps a more appropriate reference would be “the last straw,” but she was very careful with her wording and accusations. This was the point that Markle says she realized the Royal Family was plotting to destroy her and, at that juncture, she and Harry had to leave. The final domino was allegedly the media reporting that she made Duchess Kate Middleton cry over flower girl dresses at her wedding.

Markle claimed that the opposite was true… that the Duchess made her cry and then the Palace would not let her issue a denial because of their ‘no comment’ policy.

Markle went on to complain about not being allowed to go to lunch with a friend, claiming they said she had been too visible. “Well,” she exclaimed, “I haven’t left the house in months!”

“The Queen has always been wonderful to me,” said Markle after indicating otherwise. Harry reportedly never told the family or the Queen about Markle’s mental health issues, so it’s difficult to figure out how they denied her help in that regard.

Racism then became the overriding topic of the interview. Markle discussed how the color of her baby’s skin was an issue within the Royal Family. She whined that the child was denied security and a title, all having to do with race.

Markle started off in a storybook setting similar to Princess Diana. Britain spent millions on her marriage to Prince Harry, and the Queen was warm and embracing towards her. She became a media sensation both in Britain and in the United States.

But now in Winfrey’s interview, Markle painted her fairytale as a nightmare – blaming everyone but herself for how things turned out. She claimed she didn’t want to leave her royal life and build her own brand back home. Again, some feel that the building of the SussexRoyal website and the strategized media leaks seem to tell another story here. When the Queen saw that the newlyweds were working on monetizing their title, she put an end to that quickly, which enraged Markle even further.

“It was only once we were married, everything started to worsen, that I came to understand that not only was I not being protected. They were willing to lie to protect other members of the family,” she bemoaned to Winfrey.

Harry stated in the interview that he would never have left his family if not for Markle. “I was trapped,” he said, “but I didn’t know I was trapped.” Until his new bride enlightened him.

Now, Markle lives in a $14 million mansion in Los Angeles, claiming the couple want privacy while doing videos that guarantee anything but that. They have signed deals with Netflix and Spotify as well as making public appearances and doing an interview with Winfrey for reportedly millions of dollars.

Although Markle claimed the interview is the final word on the Royal Family, that is doubtful considering that profitable books and other endeavors may be a real possibility here.
