Oprah shocks the masses in Meghan & Prince Harry interview: ‘Were you silent or were you silenced?’

CBS is going all out teasing Oprah Winfrey’s 2-hour, potentially explosive interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry that promises “shocking revelations” and declares that “no subject is off-limits.”

The curiously timed interview will feature Winfrey asking Markle if she was “silenced” by the Crown… a recent hot topic after an online controversy surfaced concerning the listing of her name and title on her son Archie’s birth certificate. Winfrey will also discuss with Prince Harry his claim that the couple moved to Los Angeles because of his fear that history could repeat itself concerning the death of his mother, Princess Diana, which alludes to even more palace intrigue and paranoia.

Prince Harry states in the preview that leaving the Royal Family was “unbelievably tough.” And that is just the beginning as Winfrey goes on to claim that the royal couple says “some pretty shocking things” in the interview.

On Sunday, during “60 Minutes,” a teaser for the interview, “Oprah with Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special,” was showcased on CBS. The bombastic, heavily produced, and hyped interview is slated to air on Sunday, March 7. It’s alleged that it will make the Queen, Prince Charles, and Prince William very unhappy.

“Winfrey will speak with Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, in a wide-ranging interview, covering everything from stepping into life as a Royal, marriage, motherhood, philanthropic work to how she is handling life under intense public pressure,” CBS said in a statement. “Later, the two are joined by Prince Harry as they speak about their move to the United States and their future hopes and dreams for their expanding family.”

Markle is pregnant with the couple’s second child. There is no word yet how much they were paid for the interview but it is presumably a substantial amount. Markle is decked out in a $4,700 black Armani dress and is noticeably silent in the trailer which was filmed at their Montecito mansion.

Winfrey reveals that the former actress has described her time as a royal as “almost unsurvivable.” The interview allegedly looks to be part politics, part drama, and potentially part revenge.

Cue the drama as Winfrey asks Markle: “It sounds like there was a breaking point,” and then asks the pregnant royal: “Were you silent or were you silenced?” Then dishing out even more melodramatic prose, Winfrey states: “Just to make it clear to everybody, there is no subject that is off-limits” during the interview. The Hollywood-esque chat is purportedly aimed at increasing their popularity in America. Markle is also said to attack her own family in the interview.

Prince Harry is solidly in his wife’s corner it would seem and makes reference to his mother, Princess Diana: “I’m just really relieved and happy to be sitting here talking to you with my wife by my side because I can’t begin to imagine what it must have been like for her going through this process by herself all those years ago.” He continued: “Because it’s been unbelievably tough for the two of us but at least we have each other.”

The interview is a cash-cow for CBS as well. It was extended from 90 minutes to 2 hours and a 30-second prime time advertising slot is said to cost approximately $200,000, according to Daily Mail. In a special that is expected to be viewed by millions, the advertising income should be off the charts.

There is reportedly already pushback by the Royal Family over potential claims of Markle being in danger. A biographer for Prince Charles and the Duke of Edinburgh named Robert Jobson was blunt on the matter: “Meghan, whilst a working royal, was always protected by a team of Scotland Yard officers. Thankfully, she was never in danger physically and Harry knows that.”

“I covered all the Sussex’s tours and many of their engagements, Meghan delivered many speeches on her travels as a royal and was given a platform to do so. When you step back from this and see it for what it is – a promo to promote an interview that a US network expects to earn a fortune from – such talk of being “silenced” is just ridiculous. It suits a narrative, I suppose, but at what cost to the Queen, Prince Philip, and the Royal Family and our reputation as a country,” Jobson stated.

Others are even less charitable. One commenter snarked: “It’s been so unbelievably tough moving into our $11 million home, signing huge deals with Netflix and Spotify, and drawing on my huge trust from my Royal lineage. Like if you want a quiet life, go have one, keyword being quiet.”

The media is salivating over all of this which means even more money for the Royal couple.

“We want to remind you Harry and Meghan are talking to Oprah,” Gayle King stated on “CBS This Morning.” “It’s their first major broadcast since giving up their senior royal duties … and I’ve heard from reliable sources – this is Oprah talking – that it’s the best interview she’s ever done.”

The Queen has just recently removed the couple’s royal patronages and honorary titles. The interview seems to clap back at that development.

Prince William will allegedly not watch the interview and has reportedly not spoken to his brother in some time.
