Sen. Elizabeth Warren brazenly proclaimed on Wednesday that any Republican who supports former President Trump “must be stopped” and that her conservative colleagues wouldn’t even look her in the eye during the impeachment proceedings.
The Massachusetts senator stated that she thinks Democrat managers made a very strong case for impeaching Trump during the proceedings. She decried any Republican who would dare to stand with the former president and insinuated that they were dangerous.
Warren claimed that she tried to look Republicans in the eye during the selectively edited video presented by Democrats Wednesday during the impeachment trial. It showcased footage of the riot on Jan. 6 and how close the rioters came to encountering lawmakers. She asserted that her GOP colleagues “wanted to look off,” Fox News reported, as she seemed to imply they were embarrassed or uncomfortable with the video.
A reporter asked Warren to expand on how she viewed her colleagues across the political aisle and she declared, “The Republicans who stand with Donald Trump are his enablers, and they must be stopped.”

Warren also said it was “hard to watch” the video that showed just how “terrified” people were.
Lead impeachment manager Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) claimed that Trump was “no innocent bystander” and then posited that he “surrendered his role as commander-in-chief and became the inciter-in-chief.”
“He told them to fight like hell, and they brought us hell on that day,” Raskin overdramatically intoned.
The video presented on Wednesday revealed scenes of chaos as protesters smashed windows and broke through doors while they searched for lawmakers and went through their desks. Rioters appear to have been hunting for Vice President Mike Pence and Speaker Nancy Pelosi who were sequestered in another room when it was realized that an assault on the building was occurring.
Police were overwhelmed as rioters entered the chamber and proceeded to rampage through the various rooms they encountered. All of this is being laid at the feet of Trump as the Democrats accuse him of incitement and fomenting an insurrection because of a speech he made before the riot unfolded. Trump encouraged his supporters to protest “peacefully and patriotically” in that speech, but those remarks were edited out of the video that was put on display for the impeachment proceedings. Manipulating video for an impeachment trial is ostensibly against House rules.
Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin slammed the edited video: “If they’re going to start playing the video of what the president said, how do you cut it out at the point where the president’s telling his supporters to [protest] peacefully and patriotically?”

Six Republicans voted with Democrats that the impeachment of the former president is constitutional but many scholars and experts disagree on that point. Chief Justice John Roberts recused himself from the proceedings on constitutional grounds. Nevertheless, the trial is proceeding though Trump’s conviction is considered highly unlikely.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) clarified the situation: “The president’s rhetoric is at times overheated, but this is not a referendum on whether you agree with everything the president says or tweets.”
And many contend that it certainly doesn’t rise to the level of high crimes and misdemeanors. Cruz also said: “They spent a great deal of time focusing on the horrific acts of violence that were played out by the criminals, but the language from the president doesn’t come close to meeting the legal standard for incitement.”
