ABC News White House Correspondent Jonathan Karl was blasted on social media after observing that Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) rarely faces questions from the media gaggle that travels with her to campaign events.
“At a fundraiser tonight, @KamalaHarris played trivia and answered questions from the cast of The Avengers,” Karl wrote on Twitter in reference to Joe Biden’s running mate.
“And with that, the Democratic VP nominee has now taken more questions from cast of The Avengers than from the traveling press covering her campaign,” he added.

Karl was responding to a birthday fundraiser Harris held with ‘Avengers’ cast members, noting that the California Democrat seldom faces questions from reporters.
Leftist actors Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd and Zoe Saldana. Fellow ‘Avengers’ cast member Chris Pratt, who did not attend the virtual event and was subsequently pilloried online by critics who suspect he supports President Donald Trump, was defended by his fellow Avenger stars.
During the event, Saldana sung “Happy Birthday” to Harris while Johansson asked probing questions such as what type of superhero the California senator would like to be, Deadline reported.
“Harris and her running mate, presidential nominee Joe Biden, have faced criticism for not being accessible to the media with the exception of interviews with friendly outlets,” Fox News reported. “Biden famously snapped at a reporter who recently finally asked about the New York post bombshell involving his son, Hunter Biden, after days of silence.”
As for Karl, he was also critical of Harris last month for her lack of press availability. NBC News reporter Deepa Shivaram tweeted, “A reminder that it has been 42 days since Harris was tapped as the VP pick. There are 42 days until election day… The senator has not once formally taken questions from the press.”

Karl agreed and added, “A candidate for Vice President should be answering questions regularly.”

Neither Biden nor Harris regularly faces media questioning or scrutiny, though Biden has done more media availability. And in that vein, Karl was blasted online for being part of the media that is failing to hold the Democratic ticket to account for it.

Maybe you could ask her what flavor of milkshakes she orders. That’s the kind of tough question the Harris/Biden ticket is accustomed to from their faithful media.

Hasn’t Biden answered more questions about ice cream than about Middle Eastern foreign policy?

If only you knew somebody in the press who could do something about that. https://t.co/rHR3R8KT7C

That said, the former vice president has not faced serious scrutiny over allegations of corruption involving him and his son, Hunter, stemming from materials that came from a laptop Hunter Biden dropped off and then abandoned at a Delaware computer repair shop last year.
The laptop was eventually confiscated by the FBI. Also, a copy of explicit photos of allegedly underaged girls taken from the laptop has been turned over to Delaware state police by presidential lawyer Rudy Giuliani.
“There’s a sexual depravity to this that’s disgusting,” Giuliani told Newsmax.
“There’s a depravity that’s horrendous, which is why I reported it to the Delaware police. These underage girls were not protected. There are numerous pictures of girls that are being, I mean, they shouldn’t be there. If the Delaware state police don’t do anything about this, it would be really a tragic thing,” he added.
Of Biden’s limited number of media appearances, though, critics have noted a majority of them are tame events that have not included the kind of tough, often accusatory, questioning President Trump routinely faces.
