Former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino blasted CNN’s town hall with Joe Biden, saying it was so softball and fawning that it was like an “in-kind” campaign contribution — in this case, free advertising.

“This town hall for Joe Biden should be [considered] an in-kind contribution to the Biden campaign,” Bongino told Fox News host Sean Hannity. “Is this serious? Compare what happened to him and what happened to Trump!”

Bongino continued: “CNN had the opportunity to pin Biden down on his three biggest lies: Fracking, they gave him an out. His tax hikes for the middle class — which he has already promised — they gave him an out on that. And also on redirecting funds away from the police. They gave him a pass.”

Bongino said CNN’s unwillingness to ask tough questions and properly vet Biden suggests that it’s not a news network, but the Democrat Party’s PR arm.

“Again, it’s an in-kind contribution,” Bongino reiterated. “They are a part of the campaign effectively.”

The host for yesterday’s CNN town hall was Anderson Cooper, who has repeatedly made snide remarks about President Trump and his aides.

Mollie Hemingway, the senior editor at “The Federalist,” said CNN’s obsequious town hall with Biden was “beyond propaganda.”

Hemingway compared how CNN picked friendly Biden supporters to lob “softball” questions at him, while ABC News’ town hall with President Trump featured hostile Trump-haters launching verbal grenades at him.

“It is beyond propaganda what you’re seeing with how the media are treating the two campaigns,” Hemingway said. “It used to be said that the media act as the public-relations arm of the Democrat Party. It’s much easier to just understand them as essentially running the Biden campaign.”

Hemingway said Republicans should push back at CNN and other mainstream media outlets because they’re treated like “second-class citizens by so many people in the media.”

Hemingway said ironically, the more the left-wing media spews anti-Trump propaganda, the less credible they become to viewers.

“It’s interesting that despite what the media claim about Donald Trump — they portray him as this evil monster — Trump is doing better than he did in 2016 with various minority voters,” Mollie said. “It doesn’t matter so much what the media are saying, because they’re so extreme that people are having trouble believing anything that they have to say.”

Mollie Hemingway then contrasted President Trump’s enthusiastic rally in Wisconsin to the tame, controlled town hall Biden had with CNN.

“It’s actually a good example of what they both excel at: With Donald Trump, he’s in front of a large crowd, he’s having fun and going through a list of policy achievements and desires for a second term,” she said. “Joe Biden is in his safe place, which is a very friendly media outlet [CNN] asking questions to give him an opportunity to talk about the basis of his campaign — which is dislike of Donald Trump — with a friendly audience.”

Hemingway continued: “We haven’t seen a lot of campaigning from Joe Biden. So this [CNN town hall] is sort of the closest we’ve gotten. Donald Trump seems to be doing more of what we saw four years ago that worked out so well for him then.”

Hemingway noted that while Biden has finally come out of his basement, he hasn’t campaigned much — and this is probably intentional since his events draw such tiny crowds.

For example, here’s Jill Biden campaigning with Kamala Harris’ husband in New Hampshire. The “parade” of Biden supporters was apparently only three cars.
