Fox News’ Juan Williams set off his co-host Greg Gutfeld when he questioned the Trump administration’s “strategy of normalizing” the coronavirus pandemic.

Gutfeld, who was fired up after the “craziest” question from Williams, also targeted the “politicized” media coverage of the virus during a segment on Monday’s “The Five.”

Williams had asked Fox News contributor Emily Compagno about the impact of the “mixed message” from President Trump and his administration, noting that the president himself has not been seen wearing masks in public but that there will be masks available at the rally in New Hampshire this weekend.

“How does the strategy of normalizing the coronavirus help the Trump campaign?” Williams asked Gutfeld. “I mean, obviously people are dying. This is no common cold. I think that’s evident to everybody.”

Gutfeld paused before erupting with a laugh, telling his co-host: “That’s the craziest question you’ve ever done.”

“Nobody is normalizing a virus,” he asserted before shifting his attack to the media.

“No one should take anybody in the media seriously in their questioning of process if they haven’t actually made a correct piece of advice. Okay?” he said.

“Let’s face it. Number one, they politicized hydroxy. Remember that? They were so happy to find that one bad study that said it didn’t work, now they go strangely silent when you hear that it might work and in fact we all kind of knew that it might work,” Gutfeld said, referring to the drug, hydroxychloroquine.

“We knew there was promise, but the media didn’t like that,” he added.

A recent study showed a “significant” reduction in the death rate from the disease, with doctors stating that “data here is clear” in touting the benefits of using the drug in early treatment, even after the president was pounded for suggesting it could be a safe treatment to combat the pandemic.

“Hydroxychloroquine worked this whole time,” Dr. David Samadi, the men’s health director at St. Francis Hospital and a urologic oncologist, tweeted, slamming critics who dismissed its effectiveness simply because Trump had suggested it could work. “The media said it would literally kill you if you took it simply because POTUS promoted it as a cure.”

Gutfeld continued calling out the mainstream media in its coverage of the coronavirus deaths in nursong home sin New York.

“The media bent over backward to cover up for the Cuomos, right? They didn’t want that to be a big story, but that was a big story, okay?” he said.

“They covered up the rest home stuff. They bashed a drug that had potential. They refused to cite the most important data on earth which is the reduction in death rates. That’s the important thing but you can’t talk about the fact that it’s plummeting,” Gutfeld exclaimed.

“And let’s not forget the travel ban which many in the media, Juan, said that was stupid and said it was racist but that probably did a large part in preventing a lot of deaths,” he asserted. “The media and those who politicized it need to be ignored. All right?”

After a moment, Williams noted that “there are more than 125,000 dead” before he began to cut away to a break, with Gutfeld continuing to comment.

“Really? I didn’t know that, Juan!” he said sarcastically.
