Since political rallies are halted amid the coronavirus crisis, the Trump campaign has stepped up by donating meals to hospitals around the United States to feed doctors, nurses, and first responders.
“President Trump’s reelection campaign has been calling up local restaurants and ordering large amounts of food to be delivered to more than a dozen hospitals in New York, New Jersey, Washington state, and Michigan,” Fox News reported.
The campaign was placing these orders anonymously, but restaurant sources confirmed the news to the media. “They’re doing it as a donor who cares, so nothing politically is tied to it,” said one restaurant source.
So far, the Trump campaign has spent tens of thousands of dollars with the mass meal purchases. They plan to continue the efforts over the coming days and weeks.
These efforts help Americans affected by the coronavirus crisis in two ways: First, the free meals feed front-line healthcare workers at numerous hospitals.
Second, the huge food orders provide much-needed revenue to local restaurants, whose businesses are cratering amid nationwide business shutdowns.
Chit Chat Diner in New Jersey (a coronavirus hot spot) posted a thank-you note on Instagram, writing: “An anonymous donation providing lunch to some hardworking staff at Hackensack Hospital this afternoon. We are so grateful.”

An employee at Giovanni’s Italian Deli in Secaucus, New Jersey, said an anonymous individual had placed a large order to be delivered to Hudson Regional Hospital.
“They only told us their first name,” the employee told Fox News. “They called us, and they had us donate meals for the nurses and doctors — an assortment of things, 40 platters of pasta, salads, sandwiches. We’re happy to do it. Trust me.”
The campaign has also ordered food from restaurants in Washington state, the Bronx, and other areas.
Meanwhile, presumptive Democrat nominee Joe Biden has been hiding out at home, but occasionally surfaces to attack President Trump in cringeworthy interviews.
Biden’s campaign can’t donate meals or do anything else to help the coronavirus crisis — other than spout anti-Trump sound bites. Why? Because the Biden campaign does not have much money.
With the nationwide shutdowns, it’s unlikely that Biden will close the gap with the Trump campaign (which had a decent war chest preceding the coronavirus crisis).
Predictably, the Left is politicizing the Wuhan coronavirus by accusing President Trump of not reacting quickly enough to the crisis. Keep in mind that when Trump imposed a travel ban on China back in January, leftists attacked him as a racist.

Flashback: On January 21, Dr. Anthony Fauci — a Hillary Clinton superfan — told Americans that the coronavirus was nothing to worry about.
“This is not a major threat for the people in United States,” Fauci said on Jan. 21. “This is not something the citizens of the United States right now should be worried about.”

A week later, President Trump placed a travel ban on China. Numerous medical experts now admit that Trump’s early travel ban saved many lives.
