President Donald Trump blasted ABC News “reporter” Jonathan Karl as a “wise guy” who was trying to act cute at a White House coronavirus briefing.
Trump fired back at Karl after he asked a dumb gotcha question about the availability of ventilators amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
The President has mobilized the federal government — in partnership with the private sector — to mass-produce ventilators as the coronavirus spreads across the United States.
On Friday, Trump invoked the Defense Production Act to force General Motors to make them after GM balked by demanding more money to make the ventilators.
Karl asked: “Are you able to guarantee — to assure these states, these hospitals — that everybody who needs a ventilator will get a ventilator?”
Basically, Karl tried to corner Trump into making a “guarantee” so that a few days from now, he can throw that in Trump’s face if there’s any delay in ventilator distribution — through no fault of Trump’s.

Keep in mind that during any rapidly-evolving crisis, no one can make any “guarantees.” You can only try the best you can.
Besides, ventilator distribution to “everybody who needs it” is not something the President of the United States personally handles. That is supposed to be managed at the state and local government levels.

President Trump replied: “So here’s what I’ll tell you, I think we’re in really good shape. This is a pandemic the likes of which nobody has seen before.”
He continued: “We’ve distributed vast numbers of ventilators and we’re prepared to do vast numbers. I hope that’s the case. I hope that we’re going to have leftovers so that we can help other people in other countries.”
Jonathan Karl interjected: “So EVERYONE who needs one will be able to get a ventilator?”
That’s when the President shot back: “Look, don’t be a cutie pie, okay? You know, ‘Everyone who needs one.’ Nobody has ever done what we’ve done. Everything I took over was a mess. It was a broken country in so many ways. We had a bad testing system. We had a bad stockpile system. We had nothing in the stockpile system.”
Trump then told Karl to stop “being a wise guy” by asking dumb questions.

Reminder: The swine flu infected 61 million Americans, killing 12,469 of them, and depleted our national supply of respirator masks and other medical equipment. Where was the media outrage over Barack Obama and Joe Biden’s incompetent handling of that crisis?
In October 2009 — six months after the H1N1 virus had become a crisis — Obama declared a national emergency to deal with the rapid spread of the swine flu across the United States.
In contrast, President Trump declared the coronavirus a national emergency in January — just weeks after it was first observed in Wuhan, China in late-December.
As a precaution, Trump also banned travel from China in response to the outbreak. The Left reacted by attacking him as a racist. Medical experts now admit that Trump’s travel ban probably prevented millions of Americans from getting infected with the coronavirus.

While the media tries to exploit the coronavirus panic to undermine President Trump, the public is ignoring them.
Trump’s approval ratings have soared to a two-year high, and a whopping 61% of American voters saying they approve of his handling of the crisis. In contrast, a majority of the American public (55%) disapprove of the way the media is covering the coronavirus crisis.
